Update on paint issues, skid plate and service active dampening:
I brought the truck in for the local ram paint shop and warranty team to look at the paint issues and the skid plate ding from the factory. They took a look where the red had been splotched onto the black between the cab and bed, basically told me there's nothing they can do about the paint imperfections and they would have to fully dismantle the truck, remove bed, take off the clearcoat, repair and respray, then they cant bake the clearcoat at the same temp at the factory so it wont be as good as it is right now (his words). Really didn't want anything to do with it. I get it, its in a spot nobody will ever see but it is a brand new truck with a flaw. They wouldn't listen. BS they cant repair it to factory standards. Oh well, ill forget about it.
I also had them look at the imperfection on the rocker panel where the black paint had dripped and chipped off leaving bare metal, they said dont worry about it because i will get rock chips there down the road. i pointed out the offroad running boards and mud flaps protect it, and he said, dont worry about it. Okay thanks for the help asshat. Ill get some black touch up paint.
Skid plate: they brought the warranty lady out and she was the least likely person on planet earth to help me out. LOL. i showed her the scratch, she says "well we cant prove you didnt do this offroad" , i tell her the truck doesnt even have 100 miles and showed her timestamp photo from the day i got it with the scratch, plus its clearly not an off-roading scratch. She tells me to bring it up with service in a few weeks at my appointment and they can order me a replacement under warranty. okay ill talk to them.
Basically, i got that they dont want to do any work or help out a ram customer. They seemed even less likely to help when they asked and i told them i didn't buy the truck from them.
Fast forward a few weeks to today, i drop the truck off at my appointment at 10 am for the service active dampening. I tell the service advisor the whole story. Tells me that they can do nothing for the skidplate and to call the dealer i bought it from since it should have been caught at PDI. WTF. LOL. Got the full run-around.
I called and left mark dodge a message explaining the skid plate story and that the dealership said to call them, we will see what they have to say. I doubt anything can be done now and especially since it wasn't caught at PDI. Likely just have to fix it myself or buy a new one and be done. Frustrating.
As far as the service active dampening, They haven't even started working on it yet and its 5:30, why even have me drop it today if they wont even touch it? Anyways, Likely will have my truck a few days for a 1 hour job. I need it back for memorial day so i will likely just tell them I'm picking it up if it isn't done before the weekend. They just called and said they got backed up and didnt get to it today, maybe tomorrow.....
Beyond local dealership annoyances, the truck has been fucking awesome and i love it. 350 miles now! I will break 500 this weekend! It is fast as shit. Only issue is obviously the service active dampening that comes up every time i turn it on and put in park. Only thing i have noticed with this is the suspension seems bouncy but beyond that havent had anything noticeable with the error, it Doesn't even pop up in the app. Nobody else in the forum has had this error to my knowledge. Only a few TRX owners that got it fixed with a quick reset at the dealership. I guess we will see!
