Curious what folks think the theft risk will be on the RHO. The TRX has obviously been the target of thieves, there is a good chance of mistaken identity, but just in general trucks are usually targets. I have been lucky that my trucks have never been hit, but living in the Austin area and a frequent flier out of ABIA certainly has me concerned. I have never been a fan of aftermarket alarms but I am considering an IGLA for the RHO, but I fear my wife will be frustrated with the startup procedure if she ever wants to drive it.

I suspect the RHO will be a target for thieves - as soon as they can get their hands on one and figure out the weak points. As I understand it, there's an entirely new CAN system in the RHO - so the current techniques probably won't work.
That said, IGLA probably won't work either. The IGLA developers will have to probe an RHO and figure out how to modify the signals to make it work. They're currently doing that with other models (like some of the new Fords).

The canbus will likely be similar across all 2025 models so it likely won't take them too long, both the IGLA folks and the thieves.

I have a hard time believing that’s theft will be as big as the TRX. The main reason TRXs were sought after was the hellcat engine. How many RT’s, SXT’s do you see getting stolen. Not that many. Unless someone else knows something that I don’t.

I plan on developing a different style of security that can't be bypassed by a CANBUS hack. But we'll see how it goes once I actually get the truck. Much easier said then done.

I hope this doesn’t devolve into a big fight (anti-theft threads usually do). There are a couple of popular systems out there, each of which will need to be modified and tested on the 2025’s. Most DIY methods (like kill switches and relay switches) are pretty easily defeated by thieves who know what they’re doing.

Do a lot of thieves know what they are doing where you live? I've had a few cars broken into, they've left behind their tools and couldn't defeat the double stick tape I had holding down my black boxes ;)
Maybe I'll toss a note that I'll give them $50 to not break my window and call it a win/win.

I meant to reply to this earlier. I love the idea of an anti-wife theft device and I'm looking into the IGLA now. A lot easier than trying to hide the keys (she's like a bloodhound).

I think you’d be surprised by the sophistication that has been shown by the professionals who steal TRX’s (and other desirable Stellantis vehicles). They know exactly what to do, they come prepared, and they’re gone in the blink of an eye. They have even been shown to quickly defeat some of the better-known anti-theft devices).
Heck, I’m just an average Joe. But I know enough about these things that I could steal a Ram truck right now with nothing but my laptop and a blank key fob from Amazon. I could find/defeat most of the well-known anti-theft solutions pretty quickly.
And I’m just a regular guy. Now imagine someone who is motivated by money (to actually do this for a living).

You weren't wrong and thanks for ruining several days for me, LOL. I went down the rabbit hole in TRX forum and now I'm gonna have to budget in IGLA and a silent alarm. Unfortunately, not many IGLA options out my way, so I may have to become a dealer and do a self-install.

Once you get yours and IGLA is confirmed to work with the 2025’s, reach out to Josh Astrologo (Air’d outSRT on the TRX forum). He’ll point you to the closest place (there are surely plenty of them given where you live). Or worst case, you pay a premium and have him come to you.

Thanks for the tips. I've been catching up on years of information on TRX forum and it seems like that Ampire unit might be another viable option as well. Do you have any thoughts either way?

I don’t that much about Ampire, but from what I gather it’s not quite as robust as IGLA.
My guess is whichever one is first to figure out the new CAN architecture will be the winner.

I understand and agree to a point.

The Hurricane Engine will be the new premiere power platform (for now). Just as the Hellcat was before it.

I think this will lead to the RHO becoming the new high-theft vehicle for it's engine, just like the TRX was.

The HO hurricane will be a lot more common than the Hellcat was for sure, that will drive down the desirability, but vehicles are rarely targeted for a single part. TRX's also had a lot of unique body and suspension parts that the RHO shares and will still be desirable due to low availability. So I do think they will be less of a target but still a target for sure. Trucks are the most commonly stolen vehicle, so anything unique will be sought. But let's be honest it wasn't all TRX's making up the stolen vehicle numbers.

Does the 2025 RHO or any of the Ram trucks have better security or alarms on the rear window or rear sliding back window? Hasn’t that been the most common entry for thieves? Thx

Have you seen the videos? They program a key and break no windows or occasionally break a side window and then reprogram the key. Haven't seen a single person inconvenience themselves with the rear window. I didn't know that theft had gotten so high tech, but now I can't unsee it.

Oh, it’s a thing. Smash the slider, wriggle through, program a key, and they’re gone.
The advantage with going through the rear window is that the police don’t notice it as easily when they’re driving it around town later.
