A few questions before I order

How does that actually work? You just plug it in and it will warm the block enough to start in brutally cold temps.
I think so! This is the second one I’ve had - for the cold mountain temps/ uninsulated garage - and I’ve yet to use either! But I think it was $95

1. I skipped the sunroof. Also Midwest which has 100+ days, monsoon season and hail the size of softballs. Also, idc how the manufacturer seals it, there will always be possibilities for leaks. Ultimately your call.

2. Bead locks are nice. I opted for base wheel because if I go bead locks, I want a nice aftermarket option. Use case determines if you really need them.

3. I opted for Mopar running boards. Love the fit, finish and function. However I don’t plan to run any serious rock trails with this widebody pre-runner type truck.

4. Inoptioned tow mirrors. Not only are they wonderful for towing, they are just awesome by their own right. The mirrors when you activate turn signals virtually eliminate blind spots. They have lights that throw beams forward and backwards. Finally, and it’s subjective, but they fit the wide body profile. Especially if you go with larger tires and lift in the future.

+1 on the Mopar running boards.

Greetings everyone,

I am getting ready to order a new RHO but wanted to solicit some feedback on a few of the options I am considering.

First, a sunroof? My wife is really wanting this option but I am not quite sure. I am worried it will rattle off-road or get sand in it when we go to Glamis. And I realize sand will get in if it’s open but I am worried about sand getting into the track or mechanical parts when it is closed and causing issues down the road. Anyone have any issues with this?

Secondly, bead locks. Are they worth it? Any issues with them not balancing? I like the benefits of bead locks but have never used them on a street legal vehicle before.

Third, running boards or rock rails? Are either of these really needed or a good value vs the aftermarket options?

I will most likely order through Mark Dodge. I am coming from southern Nevada, is Houston the best airport to fly into?

I am liking the Molten Red the most but would like to see Canyon Lake in person before I make a final decision.

I have decided to get the upgraded entertainment system and interior accents. Any issues with this decision?

I am pretty excited as I have never purchased a new vehicle for myself.

-Thanks in advance
Sunroof's let in too much heat or cold. I am never a fan of them.
Bead locks are not necessary unless crawling. It is just extra unsprung mass.
Boards depend on what kind of off-roading you plan to do. I got powered boards.
Why do you need to fly in? They will pick you up. You are not going to ship it? It is probably 1000 to ship it to southern Nevada.

You mentioned the upgraded entertainment system, so figured I’d comment on that while all of these other guys debate a piece of glass over their head.

I came from the standard Alpine system in a 2020 to this upgraded system in the Level-1 group. I have to say, the Alpine was better. Also, I’m not a fan of the passenger screen. It’s pretty useless. If there was an option to avoid those 2 and save some money, I’d absolutely do it. That said, we wanted sunroof and vented seats as well as a few other niceties. I’d do the Level-1 again for those reasons, but I do so knowing Ram is enjoying added margins by sacking me with a bunch of crap I don’t need or want for, which definitely irks me.
You nailed it. I really only want the vented seats and maybe the sunroof. The rest of it doesn’t really interest me. I am about to pay almost $10k for seat options. I am going back and forth on it.

Get the engine block heater. Because no one else has. And it’s cheap
Well... Now I just feel silly for getting that on mine. (Probably less so when it's -40 in the middle of January and I have to let it sit out for a night or two!) 😂

There is more to it than that, and I undervalued a few things.

HUD is probably one of my favorite things in the truck interior.

The self-driving is super nice on long road trips. I really expected to dislike this and the radar cruise control, but buddy it just works really well.

I do have 3 kids so the heated/vented rear seats are appreciated

Rain sensitive wipers and passive entry door handles were big ones for me. I’m still shocked those aren’t in the base package.

So I have the sunroof and I actually DO use it.....just not in the summer....because....Texas! The level 1 group for me was an absolute MUST-HAVE, even if I got nothing else. Fortunately I happened to find a truck that had most every option available with one exception and off the top of my head I couldn't even tell you what it is. And the red interior accents....ESPECIALLY with Flame Red exterior....yeah....'nuff said.

I DO have the beadlock capable wheels and I can tell you honestly I will likely never buy the kit to turn them into functional beadlocks. @FrankNSteinPC is local to me and he actually installed the kit on his and has used it in the sand I think at Little Sahara in OK so he can speak to that. Me personally....I don't have any intention of rock crawling like I did in my Jeep so beadlocks aren't a must for me. Even on my Jeep I only had rock rings and I still aired down to around 12 psi for playing in the rough stuff.

I guess running boards/rock rails are a usage thing. If you think you're gonna play in the rocks....rails for sure! I have the Mopar sidesteps and love the functionality and fit & finish of them. There are definitely some good aftermarket options out there (GoRhino) but I'm a fan of OEM stuff myself and since the truck already had them who was I to argue?

If there were one thing on my truck I might reconsider....it would be the tow mirrors. And not at all because I don't like them. They just "fit" with the widebody of this truck and the functionality is wonderful, especially for towing a boat, etc. Not to mention the additional spot lights, reverse lights, etc.....I really do appreciate them. They just present a bit of a nasty blind spot when trying to turn in some situations. That's the only thing I don't like about them so for that reason I might reconsider. And I wasn't originally a fan of them until I saw them on the truck and it was a "Hmmm....they actually don't look that bad" kinda thing.

As far as airports, I think Lake Charles actually has a regional airport big enough for commercial planes...although I've never been there. Just a quick Google search. Otherwise, yeah I would think Houston Hobby would be the closest airport to fly into.
I have to agree with the tow mirrors !! HORRIBLE blind spots created with these mirrors !!!!!!!!!!!!!! but the benefits of these kinda wins out if you tow at all, you just gotta pay extra attention when turning corners and such in populated areas !! :ROFLMAO:

2500 bucks is quite the MSRP leap with the destination also going up 400. I would agree that if you want to order one, now is the time.

yea, not sure why they are doing it but I guess their costs have went up. again the good news and existing order is already price protected too.

My 2-cents:

Did Level 1 and no sunroof. Just another thing to go wrong and expensive to fix out of warranty (assuming you want to keep it that long). The counter argument is that the black interior feels a bit cavernous and more light is a good thing.

I declined beadlock capable wheels, simply because I don’t think I would use them much. I like both wheel types, so whatever your taste in wheels is - go for it!

I chose the factory running boards. They are reasonably priced, simple, durable (so far), and help prevent rocks hitting the sides. After taking to several shops the AMP and other automatic boards have issues. Didn’t opt for rock rails, don’t plan on that kind of off-roading with this truck and don’t need them for moderate trails out here in the west.

Hope that helps! Exciting times!
