Let me know what you see at 75-80mph. That's where our highways typically cruise and where I heard it the loudest.

My opinion after install: If you are cruising on the highway at 65, its not very noticeable. But as soon as you hit 75, it becomes excessive (to me). I have plenty of straight piped cars and even cat less cars. Its louder than all of those (ones a V8 too). I am currently playing around with either exhaust wrap and or muffler armor to dull the sound. Hoping to cut out 50% of the drone. Which would be tolerable. The last resort will be to install a bullet resonate to try to kill the drone. Outside the truck sounds good, but inside is current a problem at highway speeds. Again, everyone has their own opinion and I am not saying the quality of the exhaust isn't bad. I was told that the AWE exhaust is actually LOUDER, which is a bit shocking.

I heard louder but a lot less drone at highway speeds from what im reading.

Rut roh. You said a lot of drone on the highway??? That terrifies me. My AFE was just shipped to me. Even reving 2-2.5 with radio on? Talk to me

Sorry for the slow reply, but @RDRHINO explained it perfectly. I personally don't really mind drone, as I don't spend alot of time cruising on highways. If drone is a huge concern for you, maybe go for the AWE. As for the rest of the exhaust, I absolutely love it. I don't know why people complain about the sound of the inline 6, I personally think it's awesome.

I posted this over in the other thread "AFE Longshot" but figured I could post it here too:

So I took some readings yesterday and this morning with a decibel meter. Apologies for the crappy pictures.....I was driving.....in DFW traffic....@ 4:00pm....

Yesterday:
Cold Start - 68-69dB (I took a short video but can't upload it w/o posting it on YouTube and inserting a link)
84mph @ 2200rpm - 78.2dB
87mph@ 2400 rpm - 78.9dB
Foot off pedal @ 75mph - 68dB

Today:
78mph @ 2200 rpm - 74-75dB
86mph @ 2400 rpm - 81-83dB (this is where drone is the loudest)
sitting in my truck in a parking lot with everything off - 65dB ambient noise

All of this data is subjective as dB readings don't really tell your ear anything.

Yes, it has made the truck literally 10x as enjoyable to me. When it was silent, I really wasn't that impressed with the truck in general to be honest (after having driven a TRX one week before I got my RHO). Now, I absolutely love everything about it. So glad I got an exhaust right off the bat.

What I will say to anyone worried about seeing videos of it, don't even bother. Videos don't remotely do it justice. I wasn't expecting much (because of the videos) but it impressed the hell out of me in person. It's very deep and throaty.

For my install afe and stock removal. no cutting , also instead of dropping the spare and shroud i unbolted the shock mounted at the rearend. Also for me what were calling drone it's like a leaf blower in the back of the truck and if your doing 80 it's like a leaf blower on max throttle . The rest of the time it's rowdy with aggressive driving and sounds pretty sick

Agreed. Im looking into internal baffles to counter this. No hacking and welding is the hope.
