AutoLinkr works. No cutting. Pretty long startup. I have it defaulting to Android Auto on startup. Gonna look into customizing the startup screen.

Those Chinese crap things are great if you want to share all of your information with them.

It can be used as a pass through with no risk. You don't have to login to anything to use it. It's not stealing anything over Bluetooth or Wifi.

Im going to try the AAwireless two+. Its made in Europe, has no streaming apps, and you can use it just to convert android auto video to get fullscreen maps. You can stay connected from your phone to the uconnect for sound (music and phone calls). Follow up post tomorrow.

Follow up to my post yesterday. I received the aawireless two +. After a few tries, I got it to connect HOWEVER, they removed the Anroid Auto over Carplay feature in their last update so it works great but only on half the screen. SMH. Still not getting Chinese autolockr. You have to use their app for every Bluetooth connection including music and calls. And China gets you contacts from that too. No bueno

I'm not aware of any reason you would need their app. Also do some research on how Bluetooth contact access etc work, these statements are false.

Yeah, youre completely wrong. The aawireless does a quick bluetooth handshake then uses its own internal wifi. So you can actually have your phone connected to the uconnect system for calls and audio and have the aawireless running android auto (video only). But with the new update, it doesnt run aa over cp to trick the truck to fullscreen. And the only way to connect to the aawireless plug in is to use the app. Its the only way it sets up. But no matter, its being returned

What I'm saying is, the ability to steal data over the handshake or Wifi or bluetooth at any point is highly unlikely and easily detectable. The risk I see with these boxes is the passthrough authentication when you use their OS. It is not as easy as you think to do what you are assuming they do. Very easily detectable if the wifi or bluetooth connections are compromised in any way.

I can actually run some tests and prove that theory. But anything consumer grade is not gonna be doing that sort of thing. The media platform auth hacks definitely, but not compromised Bluetooth/wifi adapters.

But I'm not getting why you say you have to use their app. When I get in my truck it takes a few... Tomtoms screen for a few seconds then AutoLikr screen then their OS screen and then it loads carplay immediately. I do not press a thing. Bluetooth and Wifi are OS not app level connections, the device is android based, you can easily confirm a deviation from a standard android build when it comes to wifi/Bluetooth adapters.

With an IPhone, you get full screen with all mapping software and only Apple steals your info and then sells it to the Chinese
