Apple Car Play Won’t Connect

Gents, great info here and testing. My CarPlay was working for a while and this weekend it decided it was not going to connect with any combination of things including wired.
I was at home and removed the phone and reset the display multiple times with no success. Also went to the CarPlay app on the phone to forget the truck.
After all this it got worst, and the truck display would only show the phone with the phone and Bluetooth tile and no CarPlay tile….
The Truck connecting to home WIFi as mentioned is definitely a major problem. Use to give me intermittent issues when I drove back home in the afternoons.

Today Grok gave me some troubleshooting tips, disable auto WiFi software updates on Uconnect, also go to iPhone Carplay app -> pick Uconnect -> tap on widgets -> toggle off, go back, tap on App -> remove all non default apps -> go back, make sure CarPlay is toggled on.

I changed the iPhone settings, went back to the truck, disabled auto WiFi update, went to the phone connection pressed the CarPlay tile and it connected immediately.

BTW, prior to doing these changes CarPlay would connect more frequently with remote start for me.

I’ll report back if I keep having issues after these changes. I am crossing my fingers as I am not competent enough to start changing my home WiFi Strength signal like Brian.
Really great piece of information here! If concerns re-arise, we can gladly check into this to ensure that your Uconnect model is at the latest version.

Disconnecting the truck from my home WiFi and not allowing it to update via WiFi seemed to have helped in my situation.

Like everyone else, I have also had this issue off and on since I have owned the truck. I have tried to delete and repair my phone and truck multiple times. The only real success that I have had with the issue is to disable any VPN or Apple private relay that you may have on your phone. I did this then deleted and added my phone back in and everything seems to be working since then. Even if it doesn't connect automatically, I can get it to connect when selecting carplay from the screen. Just my 2 cents, I am sure there are other underlying issues, but this has been the only thing that has worked for me.

I have an opposite problem now, Carplay always connects but plays those U2 songs that came with iphone. Tried to disable the autoplay but still does that

Do you use Apple Music? I had to delete Apple music to fix that problem.
