Broke down at 120 miles 😬

he got his in Lousiana same as me so I believe their lemon law will be applied
Most states have the option to use your home State's Lemon Law if it is better. Do yourself a favor and check.

Typically applies to the state of residence. But again, big variability

I will say I remember when the land rover defender came out and there was video after video of how they were constantly in the shop and breaking down. Even TFL did videos on youtube about theirs. Seems they have all also been figured out now and even all the early models have been fixed and much better reliability now.

Hoping OP gets this sorted out and either resolved or replaced and enjoys his truck.

Made a short video about my experience.

There isn't much updates. Case manager reached to me just once and sicne then didn't really respond to any of my questions. I got a rental allowance $85/day for 10 days (it's been 22 days now).

Asked the shop to check the batteries as I can't see the truck in the Ram App for several days, I been told it was on the lift with batteries disconnected because they are replacing the transmission  will have to stop by in person during the week

Wow. Nicely done video.

I’ve never had the “privilege” of a major mechanical issue in 30+ new vehicles I’ve purchased over the years. Modern vehicles are complex, mechanically & electrically. So, your story likely happens more often than we realize.

Frankly, the mechanical complexity of modern gas & diesel vehicles has gotten to the point where I truly see our future is electric.

I know people have strong feelings about this. I know some folks feel EVs are being “pushed on them” by various political forces. And, EVs aren’t for people who don’t have the ability to conveniently charge them. And, if you tow, EVs are definitely not ideal.

BUT, EVs are so much less complex from a mechanical standpoint. And their efficiency is soooo much better. Once engineers figure out how to better manage the flow & storage of electrons so we can charge in less time than filling a gas tank & range exceeds 600-800 miles on a charge, we will kiss ICE goodbye & good riddens.

Oh brotha I feel your pain. I got my truck delivered December 28th. I left the dealership and same day at 49 miles I had a faulty fuel injector that got stuck open and hydrolocked the engine leaving stranded in the side of the highway just hours after pick up… dealer said it needs a new engine and I didn’t want a brand new truck with a engine swap due to mismatched Vin numbers and also maybe Mileage not actual status if engine and truck miles are not lining up. Would definitely hurt the resale value…

Dealer gave me my check back and I reordered same truck.. I still don’t have it almost 5 months later. According to dealer it’s getting delivered next week…

Original order for the truck was May 8th 2024
And sounds like I’m going to have it May 2025

I read about hydrolocked engine here already, does it happen a lot? or maybe it was your post

wow 1 year wait for truck, crazy!

sad thing is the dealerships here in SF are known to be "not that great" ...

No just my truck as far as I know. Never had issues like this with a brand new vehicle and never waited for a vehicle this long. Keep telling myself that the RHO will be worth it though.

I’m also in the process of waiting for a transmission replacement. I’m approaching 30 days without my vehicle, no loaner and still have yet to be contacted by a case manager.

Yea guys I'm not hearing cause, surely the dealership has given you this, can anyone share why this has occurred over a few instances now? A transmission just doesn't fail for no reason.

I see.. yes wouldn't expect these issues with brand new vehicles either.. saying that, my friend got a new Mustang 3 months ago, put 500 miles on it and the engine failed. I think they said the injector failed as well and it burnt out a valve. He was without it for 1 month too and wanted a new car instead of engine replacement, but in the end got some extended Ford warranty.. so doesn't happen just with Stellantis brands..

Did you ever get any info on what caused this failure?

nope no one told me.. also was surprised when they said transmission.. to me it surely was the front diff fail, maybe the transmission went bad because of it? who knows, they will be replacing both

wow that is horrible man.. how long did they say they be waiting for the parts?

Terrible, I’d be pissed!

Two weeks. They started the replacement Friday and it should be completed this week - or so they think. FYI, the transmission didn't fail, it just wouldn't upshift from 1-2 when at WOT. Otherwise, it drove completely fine without any issues, no CEL. I was shocked when they said the transmission was being replaced as I didn't think it was a transmission issue and more of some type of PCM Engine/Transmission communication issue.

There's another member on this forum @White RHO that literally went through the same issue, had his transmission replaced, and it didn't resolve anything. He's currently waiting without resolution. @White RHO, feel free to chime in if I'm off the mark.

That does sound like a pcm or connection issue rather than a physical part of the trans. The computer tells it when and what to do. Unlike the transmissions of not that long ago that relied on throttle and vacuum. And even if that didn’t correlate, it used the pressure in the valve body to still shift.

I’ll have to check when I get the truck back, I picked it up in December.

That that’s a bit odd. 😳
