I had numerous issues with failure to start for both wired and wireless CarPlay. The solution I found was (1) upgrade to iOS 27, which specifically improves wireless CarPlay reliability, and (2) update Uconnect to the U42 version (part of the backup camera recall). With those two changes, CarPlay has been 100% reliable, every time, every day. My dealer did the U42 update manually, as I wasn't getting it OTA. It nixed a number of other small bugs in addition to improving CarPlay reliability.

This fixed it for me too. Still have the occasional odd-ball issue but much more stable than it was previously.

Now the weird thing is mine says it is on 42 but I still have the backup camera recall show up on my app.
