Codes issues - Cat6 Tune install

No reason not to. I have had zero issues with mine. The only codes I got from mine was due to me putting the battery cables in a different order than I took them off. Cleared the codes and zero issues since. It’s been off and on multiple times (everytime it goes to the dealership 😂)

Chris

Does the RHO require a specific order? I assume it’s main battery then aux battery.

Yup, I did it back wards the first time and it threw codes lol

Attempted to install cat6 on my RHO this evening but throwing codes P2127, P2122 and U04218. Anyone else experience this? Now it’s storming out so can’t do anything until the morning. Any advice on what I did wrong and how to correct would be appreciated. View attachment 16387
Battery cables must come off before installing cat6 , then the battery cable to main battery is installed first then smaller battery cable is second before you setup app and turn on truck. if you do it in the right order there are no problems , you can also check the TSB's on the truck to see if there are any issues make sure you update cat6 after installing it. also make sure parking brake is off before driving it can cause issues.

Glad someone has posted about these issues. I hadn’t seen many others with issues. I put mine on after about 3 weeks of having the truck (used). And it started up with multiple pistons not firing correctly. I disconnected and reconnected everything twice. Still started up with massive lugging. Like I had just installed a massive CAM. One thing I did notice is that every time I tried to link it to the app it would say update failed. Then it would proceed. I contacted the retailer I bought it from and they are working with Holley to warrranty the device. Doesn’t give me a lot of confidence though to put it back in the truck. Also, when I returned it to stock, the rough idol happened multiple times after and I had to do a battery reset to get it to stop. Very strange….

I have had several piggy back units on multiple cars. I’ve never had an issue. I’ve been running a JB4 on my M340 for 4 years now. 0 issues including track days. I almost want to switch over just based on this reliability factor.

Do what you think is best for you. I was part of the beta testing for the DS and have amazing customer support. And you get to talk to a live person.

call Holley direct, i had a bad unit and they replaced it no problem and where very helpful, it's important you follow instructions to the letter i.e. disconnect battery then reinstall in correct order, Holley can walk you through it good luck it makes a big difference.

My truck is in the shop now. Right after the Cat6 install it was very slow. Threw a CEL. I returned it to stock but the damage was done I guess. My truck was de-energized and also had a code for Max Engine Oil. Hopefully they figure something out. Let me know if you have any ideas on the cause of the issue.

Yeah - I’m glad I waited this one out. I’m a hard pass after reading these.

I don’t much care if Holley has excellent support if they’re sending out products and software that has potential of damaging the truck. Their customer support might do great at getting you a new tuner, but you’re going to be left with the truck repair concerns.

Thanks for sharing your findings, guys!

Again your choice and I appreciate people being cautious with a very expensive truck.

I’ve had mine on since being a beta tester and with all the updates, multiple removals and reinstalls, zero issues. Over 5k awesome trouble free miles.

I would more than suspect the issues were already brewing ahead of time and it brought it to the forefront with the install.

With these trucks, that is a fair statement 😂

Chris,

In all fairness, I’ve read many issues about RHOs but a very small amount of those have been power delivery issues. Actually, I see more in this thread than I’ve read total elsewhere. I have to conclude there’s some correlation…

I don’t suppose most CAT6 products have issues, but the potential consequences of getting a bad one, or bad SW launch are pretty severe.

I agree. My RHO ran great since I purchased it in December. I believe it was the Cat6 install. Maybe it was the Cat6 or maybe the install triggered something. The dealership is putting a new fuel pump on the truck bc the fuel psi drops when it accelerates. The truck went into limp mode the moment I installed the Cat6. Had it on for 15 minutes and then took it off and still had the issue. I’m glad other guys haven’t had these issues but I won’t be putting the Cat6 on once the truck is repaired.

I don’t know what to say but I can’t ever imagine driving this truck stock again.

As I said in another thread, you’ll never miss what you don’t know. ;)

And it’s a relative easy but also difficult install. If you’re not getting the “clicks” installing the connectors that will cause havoc too.

I’d love to see an analysis of the install and unit itself.

I’ll continue to highly recommend this product.

I had a hell of a time with the MAP sensor.

You need long fingers or small hands. Luckily I have kinda long fingers. 😳

Not ET phone home long 😂

I believe the issue that I had with my truck with the vacuum hose popping off after the CAT6 install was somehow related to the CAT6. Obviously it's not 100% certainty but before the CAT6 install, I've gunned that truck several times without an issue... after installing it, 4-5 WOT pulls and that's when I had vacuum hose issues.

as stated in a prior thread, I've ran Diablosport Predator before on another vehicle I had years ago and never had an issue so I know Diablosport makes great products.

That being said, I don't care what numbers DS makes, since i got the truck back from the hose issue, I installed the JB4 and haven't had a single issue. Not saying one is better than the other but I'm certainly happy with the JB4 and will possibly go back to DS once they've worked out the issues that others are having solely for the integrated pedal commander, which is honestly not a big deal for me, but I would like to be able to adjust on the fly if need be.

Just get the Roar Pedal. I've heard great things and have one on the way. I tried the Banks PedalMonster but it killed my battery, so I returned that. Even though it wasn't listed specifically for the RHO, I called them up and went with the model their customer support team recommended.

Haven’t heard of the Roar pedal. Going to look into that now. Thanks!

Did they update those hoses? I saw on a Facebook page that ram updated those hoses because they were defective! The old has a gray tab and the new ones have a white tab! Just curious to see what they used on your truck!
