Curious from owners why RHO over lightly used TRX - Was it just price or did you prefer it and why!

Ok so I don't even have the truck yet. I just ordered from Jim Glover the other day and it's in D1 which I guess is at least scheduled. I am so excited for this truck that I find myself constantly thinking about it lol it's going to be a long couple of months BUT this is also one of the most fun parts. The anticipation/looking forward to getting it/watching tons of videos on the RHO and other trucks.

Now the elephant in the room .... Because almost everyone of my friends I have told about this truck all have the same comment... DUDE WHY DIDN'T YOU GET THE TRX!!!

lol ok valid comment but I will explain for ME why the RHO is a better fit and i'd also love to hear from the owners and even soon to be owners as to why they chose an RHO over a TRX.

For me I know it's an unpopular opinion BUT I have always preferred turbo engines over V8's. Yes I know I know, man-card revoked but it is what it is. I have had many Corvettes and I have had a GTR. Prefer the GTR. My dream car has always been a 911 Turbo. I love the feel of a turbo motor and the mid range tq and punch. Especially in cool boost weather. It's just such a fun feeling for me.

Turbo engines are also quite fun to mess with and tune. I am sure over time there will be some amazing performance mods for the 3.0 HO motor. Exhausts / downpipes / flash tunes / maybe even larger turbos. Obviously like any other platform I am sure you will need to address certain internals to make stronger however the point is while the truck offers great performance right out the box, I am sure that over time the platform will become a great one to modify, if you are into that sort of thing.

I also love that the hurricane will do better gas mileage than the TRX and thus get better range tank per tank. It is such a ridiculous truck but it seems like EXACTLY what I love lol

Curious what you guys think and why you chose or are choosing the RHO over a TRX! Happy Friday guys :)

Interior is miles better. I'm much more interested in comfort than going the same speed in a louder vehicle.

Also even a "lightly" used TRX has likely been run hard and put away wet. Nobody buys a TRX to drive conservatively.

For me, I like what I like and I never judge what others like. I love the RHO and I’m sure I would have loved a TRX. There are differences, the questions is what are your must haves and get what you want and like. My puts and takes landed me on the RHO. Plus nothing beats new car smell over someone’s left over farts. 😉. Who knows, I may be all over the “new TRX” if/when it returns. Until then, I’m team RHO!! Go Rhino!!

For me it was about the warranty. I couldn’t find a trx for the same price as my rho with any warranty. Given that, like someone else said, who knows how the previous owner treated them and I’d want coverage.

For me, when the TRX launched, I honestly loved everything about it except for the Hellcat. I always thought if they had just done a standard hemi it would have been the perfect truck for me. This is my daily driver and I put a lot of miles on. The hellcat sounds amazing, but I really don’t have a need for 700hp, and I’m actually pretty pleased with my 400hp hemi. To me, the tradeoff for fuel mileage just doesn’t make sense.

Now, when the RHO first launched, I also wasn’t sure I was a fan of the turbo 6. If I’m being honest, I’m still not sure how I feel about it and I’ll definitely miss the sound. However, I think sound alone is a terrible reason to make a decision.

I still considered it, but what I found is I’d end up in a 2021 or 2022 TRX with thousands of miles on the odometer to get the price of my brand new 2025 RHO. That just doesn’t seem sensible considering in many ways they’re the same truck. In other ways, the RHO has an awful lot more to offer in terms of interior and technology.

I had the opportunity to drive a lightly used RHO last month and it firmly instilled for me that I’d made the right decision. It’s super fun to drive. I actually loved the sound in the interior. It’s quiet for normal driving when I want it to be, but reminded me of a sport bike when I got on it. I love the sound of it, I love how it pops into and out of gears, and I love the sound of the up and down shifts (especially in Baja!!!). The ride quality is ridiculous, and it looks every bit as awesome as a TRX.

It’s a pretty awesome truck in its own right. Mine just moved to production and my anticipation is definitely building.

I really liked the TRX when it was first released. The thought of a factory-built 700hp truck just because MOPAR could was... honestly it's one of the things I love about the brand! They throw caution to the wind and push their machines to the limit for shits & giggles. And how bold was it for Ram to offer a mass produced vehicle like that?

But I "knew" I'd never be able to have one, especially with my daily commute....it was just out of reach for me at the time. And truth be told I never in my lifetime expected to able to spend $85k on a vehicle....and then last year it happened when I bought my AT4X. The last Ram I had was a 2019 and in late 2021 my wife said it was about time for me to get a new truck. Ram at the time didn't have anything that was new and different for me so I picked up my 2021 AT4 6.2L and it was great! But I always missed my Ram....the build quality, the interior, the feel compared to ANY GM product....it just felt more upscale.

I wasn't even considering a new truck until March 12th this year when my 6.2L spun a rod bearing. And at the time I knew nothing of the RHO (sad but true). Literally.....Nothing. Then I started researching current truck offerings and what was on the market because I knew I was done with GM at that point. I was pretty well over the TRX because premium is f***ing expensive and it gets like 9mpg and they're also sort of commonplace these days. But the RHO.....very similar performance for less money and a tad better fuel economy (or so I'm told)....something maybe within my grasp. Over the last couple of years my financial situation has greatly improved and what was once unattainable was now within the realm of possibility. So I found one local just to go see what all the hype was about (dead set on Hydro Blue) and as soon as I got to the dealer and saw it in person......I may or may not have gotten a slight chub

Now that I actually have my truck and have broken the 500 mile cherry......I LOVE THIS FUCKIN' TRUCK!!!!! I find excuses to go drive it.

Still have my eyes on a Porsche GT3RS (highly doubtful but one never knows)...and would sell both my children for an R34 GTR NUR.....but this RHO is THE most fun to date I've had driving.

Most trx owners ended up with rho should tell you everything you need to know.

Lol that's funny man. My dream car is a 991.2 turbo S. I have a feeling though even if I got it then it would sit in the garage most of the time and I'd end up selling it in a year or 2 lol

Just curious was your order placed in April? I order April 1 and have not been scheduled yet so trying to get a feel for other April orders.

So for me it was an order allocation that jim glover already placed toward the end of January. The build matched what I was looking for so on April 8th I worked out a deal with Adam over at jim glover and put a 1k deposit on the truck to take ownership of the order.

Right now it's set as scheduled from what I can see and Adam said it's probably a 2-3 month turn around time unless bigger constraints and issues pop up then he will get in touch with me and it may have to be changed to a 26. For now though he said everything looks good and he expects it to be accepted as is and built.

Fingers crossed.

Gotcha! I played my order April one and I’m pretty nervous on the outcome at this point with everything I’ve read on the forums recently. Fingers crossed it all works out🤞🏼

I mean I guess worst case scenario we wait longer and it gets pushed to a 26. Least we know what we want 😁

This.

I'd never buy a used TRX unless I personally knew the previous owner and exactly how it was treated. Not sure any used TRX's have been used "lightly".

Now a new TRX? That's a different story. But I'd still choose the RHO due to my function of using it as a daily driver and new cost difference.

Both are great trucks.

The TRX has better sound, is faster, and has better street cred, if that matters to you.

The RHO has a better interior, 80% of the pace, and 100% of the same good looks. It is also a much better value, considering you can get a new one loaded for $75k.

$75k will buy you a 2021/22 TRX with 30k miles on it. For a "slightly used" 2023/24 TRX with the updated interiors, you're looking at $90-100k.

There is no wrong answer, but the RHO is better than every other new truck offering on the road.

For me it’s the motor. I like the Hurricane over the Helcat, it’s just a better motor. The massage seats are a bonus.

I’ve had a ZR2, a Raptor, a lightning, 392 Wrangler and the other vehicle in my garage is a ‘24 TRX. I’ve found that the HP sweet spot is around 500HP. The RHO is no slouch when you put your foot in it. The TRX needs plenty of room and an open road to be happy. Putting your foot in it inside of the city just screams “hey man in blue come get me because I don’t care about anyone’s safety”. The RHO is like
wearing cargo shorts and a t-shirt all the way to a tailored suit and anything in between. There’s nothing like it. Period. Self driving to slinging sand in Baja mode then getting back on asphalt and turning on the massaging seat and then having to seat move back to let you out when you park it. Are you kidding me?

I'm an RHO fan - but miles better? To the untrained person, I'm not sure anyone would know the difference. A 2" taller screen and the passenger screen (which is of debatable value) are the only visible/tactile interior differences that I'm aware of. I know there are massaging seats and self driving - neither of which I would likely ever use.

To the OP, I had an RHO on order and bought a TRX with 7,800 miles on it. TBH, if not for finding a TRX in a color combo I loved and that isn't availble on the RHO, I would probably have waited for my RHO (which btw has been sitting in a parking lot in Detroit for 7 weeks). I do think about the "practicality" of the RHO - but then I think about the fact that it is still a massive, somewhat lumbering vehicle that won't fit through car washes, in half of the parking garages - or many home garages. It's not like whipping around in a Honda Accord vs. a dually.

So, while I agree that the mileage is a plus, my thought process was that I might as well have the extra sound/emotion if I'm going to have all of the other impractical aspects of a giant truck. I've only had my TRX for a couple of weeks, but I literally smile every time I accelerate when I hear the supercharger whine and exhaust rumble. FWIW, I'm getting 12.8 mpg on my TRX so far - but I have a pretty ideal commute. This is my daily driver.

I think I would choose not to use features, therefore they don't exist. Got it.

I couldn’t justify paying the same or more for a used truck, when the reality is the RHO better suits my needs.

I also have a supercharged mustang that eats Hellcats for lunch so my blower needs are met.

I came from a 24 Raptor R. Loved the sound and power of engine...but after half a dozen hot start issues, corroding shocks, infotainment issues in most expensive vehicle I have ever owned It left a bad taste in my mouth. I have owned all generations of raptors and my 24 was the biggest disappointment from a quality perspective. I
