Daily Drivability

I drove it through NYC a few days ago. Yes, there’s a pucker factor but you’ll quickly adjust. The turning radius is terrible but that’s the nature of the beast I suppose.

No regrets at all here re: the wide body form factor. I can still (barely) shoehorn it into my garage. If I couldn’t do that then I might have some regret.

I am still waiting on my rho order. With people saying they the turning radius being bad it's too bad that the rho does not have a 2wd option! Break those rear tires loose and turn on a dime! I honestly wish there was that option.

I have no complaints on turning radius compared to other trucks. It parallel parks better than my HD diesel trucks by far. Maybe not quite as good as my wife’s minivan though.

When talking about a female driving a big vehicle around a mall parking lot, it reminded me of a scene at a mall in San Antonio, back in 2013. It was Christmas time…

You must realize, the Chevrolet Suburban is the “go to” status vehicle of the upper middle class mom in TX. I watched as a woman backed her brand new, temp tag equipped black Suburban into a parking space. First, she scraped the entire left side on a concrete pillar. Then she pulled forward with her wheels pointed in the completely wrong direction, making sure her fenders and both doors now needed to be replaced.

I guess she decided that spot was too small, but she couldn’t pull away without backing once more. This time, her rear bumper took the brunt of the misguided maneuvering. Though, her rear hatch appeared unscathed.

At that point, I began running toward her vehicle, as I could tell she was panicking. But, she got free from the mess & drove away, never to be seen again.

👆 110%

I don’t understand the thinking in not having a 2WD mode.

Makes little sense to me other than $ savings?

The Full-Time 4WD drivetrain was proven in TRX…it was the easiest, fastest & most cost effective path.

One might ask why TRX used a FT 4WD system? Well, at the time, selling a 702HP RWD, light-ass pickup to the general public was seen as wreckless & an invitation to litigation. Remember, the V8 Raptor R did not exist yet.

There is a way to get 2WD on the TRX with a tazer, not sure how many did it, seems kind of sketchy. I'm sure there is more of a deep dive into it on the TRX forum. If we ever see the tazer released for our trucks they might have the same option to do so.

Good point, but the Hurricane is no Hellcat and the easiest, fastest & most cost effective path generally (always?) benefits the manufacturer, not the consumer.

Personally I don’t believe RWD on the RHO would be a safety issue with the Hurricane. The Hellcat, for inexperienced drivers, yepper.

This was my thought as well. I believe that the 4wd system is electronically controlled in that you can use different drive modes and each one gives more or less percent of power to the front wheels. At some point an aftermarket tuner may be able to either set a 2wd mode or adjust the power to the front wheels way down to effectively make it 2wd.

You are correct & partially incorrect. The BW transfer case in our truck is not mechanically designed to operate with less than 25% of the input torque being sent to the front differential. A tuner could theoretically lower that percentage, but durability, max torque capacity and efficiency may be lower as well.

I had a '25 limited for 9 months....If you smashed the pedal down in 2wd doing about 20mph the tires would break loose and the back of the truck would end up in the other lane...First time it happened to me I nearly shit myself, than Smiled...I was not expecting that much power.

there's a tuner for bmws that does this: https://www.xautomotive.com/product...oU7848ExjC4vmC3BfW8N7dQUq_T54wynMsAeTlAtP8tDo

from what i saw back in my bmw days, there was very mixed reviews/reliabilty

Wow, that’s surprising to me. There’s no way the Hemi would have done that on my ‘14 Limited.

So that was with the 3.0L standard output?

I daily mine in the East Bay to Richmond. I find it easy to commute in and like being able to get my spot merging into the maze.

HO engine....Yes...my hemi could barely break the tires loose from a stop...The HO can get squirrelly in 2wd.
