Dash Cams

My BlackVue has great quality. I love having access to it wherever I’m at. The main reason I chose this over Viofo.
Photo taken on January 29th. I also went to get ceramic coat and window tint. You were the first truck I saw in Houston.

I remember seeing your truck there! Blue looks amazing. John is a good dude. I saw another white rho with paper plates on Wednesday.

I know we have a dash cam thread from prehistoric times here, (it's gotta be like two months old, or older! 🤣 ), but I'm too tired and lazy to find it.

Can someone link their choice(s) for a high-end multi-camera system?

I had a :poop: for brains in an F350 run a red light this morning and missed T-Boning me by sheer luck or divine intervention. Really glad this truck can get on it when necessary.
Red-Light-Runners in my area are like cockroaches in a dirty restaurant. They're everywhere.

I am not waiting for FitCamX to get with the RHO program.

Thanks.
fit camx has an RHO model. I put it on mine works great.

Yep, FitcamX fits the RHO perfectly. Love it, can’t tell there is a Dash cam.
How long do the recordings last before being over written? With the 64G card that is.

Well, it’s really about drive time, not days, for how long the video last. Card fills up then starts recording over. You can always pop the SD out if you know you need something. I upgraded to a 256 card to have plenty of memory and now have two cards I can rotate. You have to do math to figure out how much the card will hold.

Downloaded Recordings: The format is MP4
2k Version (1440p) Front CAM: 1 minute of video avg, file size = 83MB
4k Version (2160p) Front CAM: 1 minute video avg. file size = 129MB
Rear CAM (1080p): 1 minute video avg. file size = 47MB

So rough math, 500 minutes (8.33 hrs) at 4K on a 64MB SD card. 2000 minutes (33.3hrs)on a 256. So a long trip will start recording over.

If it detects an “Emergency” or “incident” in park mode, it locks those videos and you have to manually erase them. I have a few “launches” I had to erase. Also, a “hard breaking” incident and some dumb person reading their phone walked into the truck-no damage (SMH)- it locked them. I mean, an RHO is quite small and can easily be missed, LOL!

ISSUES: Only thing I can report is if you are connected to the CAM via WiFi, you cannot, to my knowledge, connect to any other WiFi device. While connected, my phone (iPhone 15) functioned like normal, receiving calls, was able to text and browse the Internet, of course through my cell service network. No other problems/issues so far. NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR BLUTOOTH OFF ON YOUR PHONE WHEN CONNECTING TO FITCAMX. If it’s on, you won’t connect to Download. I recommend taking the SD card out and downloading, much faster.

COMMENTS: When I was looking for a DashCAM I looked at several from friends/family. I did not like how their cables had to hang/run down to find power. Also, not a fan of the suction cup mounted ones and the ones that strap to your rear view mirror just seemed cheap. The plastic shell on this FITCAMX looks great, OEM look. The color and texture matches perfectly.
FitcamX will have you send pictures of your mirror/cam box before final processing of your order.
You also have to order the rear cam at the same time. You CAN NOT ADD THE REAR CAM LATER.
I’ve had no battery issues with park mode-Cam is always on. (Hardwired). You can turn off if you want.
Note: I had it professionally installed, so I can not give feedback on ease of install for the DIYers out there. The installer did not complain and charged $200 flat per car.

CONCLUSION: IMHO, If you are looking for an Integrated CAM, I would highly consider looking at the FITCAMX. I have them in both my RHO and GW3, you have no idea they are there. (Front). Rear is still clean.
I can only affirm that I’m very pleased with the FitcamX, not it’s the best and only one to get. I say do your research and what works best for you, your needs, and budget.
Good luck!

Great info AFX. Thanks. One more Q, what is park mode? Didn't see much info about it on their website.

Possibly a bed mounted Phalanx system would be more effective against other drivers running stop signs or red lights.

That didn’t come out right…
Think like Tesla, if the car gets jarred or senses something it records. I’ve set it off walking in the garage.
