Dash Cams

Good to know. I was wondering if that was really necessary. That's a pretty expensive battery.
you dont have to buy it, but I would recommend since these trucks already have gremlins *knock on wood

Website lists all models except RHO. But does not state it doesn’t work.
Yeah you all good. It's my 4th camera with them. They always ask for picture of mirror house with order will only send after you provide picture. I played order and right away send them my order number and picture to them. They were able to confirm within 1 hour. They usually reply a lot faster at night so not sure where they located 😁

I even got 1 camera from them on Amazon flash sale years ago and they needed picture of housing.

Got a spare picture of your mirror? Asking for a friend ;)

I don't have the answer to your question and I'm curious to hear what people here say, but I've been considering one for a year or so now and I'll tell you that on the GT500 forum, there are a lot of guys there gaga over the BlackVue cameras. They rave about the features and image quality. It sounds like you can view live video when away from the vehicle. They're pricey, but I haven't read anything negative about them other than that.
Thank you!

I ordered the VIOFO A229 Pro last night as there was a lightning sale on Amazon for $280. Well under the cost for small upgrades for A329. Now need to figure out if I should get 256 or 512 gb micro SD. They aren’t as cheap as I imagined for the VIOFO brand which everyone says you should use. Will also be on the lookout for how to hardwire as I’ll pick up the hardwire kit as well for a clean look.
A little late to this party, sorry. There are other brands you can buy, you just have to be aware of which brands are the best quality.

Samsung micro SSDs are generally what I recommend, especially if they are on sale. They have an endurance line, which is a good bang for the buck, as well as a Pro Plus and Pro Ultimate line designed for cameras (they are what I currently use with my Viofo A329 in the TRX). You may be able to use their Evo Select or Evo Plus line, those used to work fine for me, but I wanted to go a bit better this round with a 4K60 camera that may challenge the card for read/write.

Avoid Sandisk if possible. They used to be decent back before dashcams and camera phones, but they decided to do the "quantity over quality" approach big-time in the past decade or a little less, and generally are more likely to have issues.

Viofo, Thinkware, and other camera-specific branded cards are good, but not usually worth the higher price tag, in my opinion.

Just ordered one of the FitcamX and will report back.
Yes they also approved my rear view mirror housing few days ago but I also messaged them yesterday when they will be shipped. Their answer was soon.. so who knows maybe they still waiting on them.

Also if anyone interested and don't have a truck yet I can send you a picture and you can pre-order and have it ready. Just send me a message and will get it done tonight when get home.

Ordered the FitcamX, with the F&R polarized lens covers and wiring harness.

$338.18 with the 5% "Subscribe5" discount.

I'll do an installation video when it comes in...

Nice would like to see this. Thinking about this as well. The hardware might not be as good as others but it'll do for insurance claims

I completely agree.

The hardware might not be the best, but I wanted something that blends in. The VIOFO is far superior component-wise, but (to me) it's FUGLY.

A year ago, I got brake-checked - We never collided, but I'm sure someone was trying to insurance scam me.
I want my camera tech to blend in, so if it happens again, they can get the smackdown when they find out it was all recorded.

Trying to decide between the FitCamx and a Blackvue that I already own with the battery. In my Jeep, I could hide the wiring under a rubber gasket at the mirror and it made for an OCD friendly install. Just eyeballing the RHO, seems like if I go that route, I'm going to have some exposed wires. Does anyone have any pics of an install other than the Fitcamx?

I’ll take a pic today but there are no exposed wires with the BlackVue. I love having the function of remoting in to check on the truck at my fingertips.

Love to see how you did that. I have the battery too so would love to make the most of it if possible.

This is what I'm trying to avoid. I suppose I could use the BlackVue 3M mount and position it closer to the top of the headliner to hide the wires a bit better.

Fitcam uses old sensor, it's not even real 4K, it's oversampled to 4K from like 2.7K, that's why the footage is pretty bad, especially when you want to read license plates. Look for a dashcam that uses Sony Starvis 2 sensor.

Just sharing, I can’t compare the cameras, I’ve only had the FitcamX. It’s hardwired, with rear and I’ve been happy with it. Here is a screenshot of a recording, in the rain, and can read the plate. Two pictures, the zoom is of the first picture to judge distance. Again, make your own decisions on what’s right. I went with FitcamX for OEM look. Note, hardwired with park mode has not impacted my battery. Hope this helps.

This is from my install of VIOFO A229 pro. Wires are just seen going up into the headliner. Video here (excuse my caption lol) kind of showing the routing to hardwire it. Screenshotted a pic to show fuses I tapped into. One was for passenger wireless charger (which I don’t even have) and the other was for passenger heated seat module. Works perfectly. Hope this helps those wanting to hardwire.
