First thoughts on the MBRP exhaust

True story…the 1st time I floored my RHO onto the highway & it shifted (shitted), my wife looked at me. Then, she laughed…hard!

Cold start is on point, drone is bad at certain rpm have to manually shift to a lower gear so it’s not super annoying so you know

MBRP is manufactured 2hrs from where I live & the shop that did the install is right beside it

Also have the JB4 tuner they swear 100 hp to the rear wheels on 94 but mines pretty glitchy

Hate to have to cut up a brand new exhaust kit though for unpredictable results.

I’m struggling between trying that or waiting to see what the MRT Elite muffler/mid pipe kit looks/sounds like.

Hard to tell until you drive one with aftermarket exhaust to be honest that would be the best case scenario but not easy to do

What exactly are you trying to accomplish with the resonators? In auto, it's not that loud. If you run in sport, it can get a little loud because it holds gears. I'm happy with it, I don't think there are any others that sound much different. Main reason I got MBRP was for the full diameter crossover pipes, not crushed ones.

My MBRP is solid, drone around 2000rpm annoying

There are no mufflers in the system, they are straight piped search it up on You Tube they explain everything

My primary objective in considering adding resonators to the MBRP would be to reduce cab drone, which most complain about with the MBRP (perhaps not as much as with the aFe Vulcan though).

And if resonators smoothen and deepen the tone slightly, bonus.

But I decided yesterday to just try a bolt on muffler swap first on the MRT Trail Rated. May or may not work without having to bring it to a shop for cutting/welding but I figured it was worth a shot. Seems like MRT is essentially doing the same with their pending Elite system for the RHO.

Mikey’s mod with the Flowmaster x-pipe 72469 sounds pretty good but I generally prefer the tone of MagnaFlow’s mufflers so I’m going to give the MagnaFlow x-pipe 12469 a try.

I was going to say turn the radio louder but that works too.

Posted in a different thread that I got the Magnaflow 12469 installed and it only subtly improved the tone. The 2K-2.6K rpm cab drone is still there but it’s less pronounced and less annoying so that was the most noticeable change, perhaps due to the integrated x-pipe in that muff.

But…still not happy so the MBRP might be in my future.

MBRP is pretty decent, slight drone in a couple places but can always manual shift up or down to take it out not the end of the world

And I think sounds about as good as they’re gonna get
