So was poking around in the app at my trips I have taken, saw this and about shit my pants. What the hell is that fuel economy......that's going to get expensive to fill up. I have 654 miles on my truck for those who will wonder.

Unless you have filled up 6 or 7 times already, I wouldn't worry too much about it. 3.5mpg with a 33 gallon (assumed 30 usable) tank gets you about 100 miles per tank. So 654 miles would mean you are on your 7th tank!

The computer does a job calculating averages over time, not over tiny samples.

What you did here is select Muggsy Bogues and conclude that the average NBA height is 5'3".

Have 1/4 of my second tank of gas left lol. Third if you count the dealer fill up. Caught me off guard though, curious if other are seeing low number in the ram app too.

My vehicle lies but in a way that looks better. My app doesn't show MPG, just fuel level and total miles left. Vehicle shows 11 mpg but hand calculations are closer to 7. Ram App says 292 miles remaining with 3/4 tank so about ~11.8 mpg, but I'm guessing real world will again be closer to 7, maybe 8 if I get lucky.

If you want to track your fuel usage and mileage a good app to get is Fuelly. It’s free, on apple and android both.

Holy hell! How do you drive?? If I get mine and wind up in the 7-8 mpg range I will just find a used, low mileage TRX. I went this route because it barely tipped the needle on the "practical" side of the gauge - because it's quiet and doesn't have horrible mileage.

i’ve driven mine pretty civilized and thru 500 miles in at 13-14 mpg. some people say it goes up with break in so i’ll recheck as we go

haha that data in the app is such a joke. My last trip says 2.89 mpg. I would be filling up 3 times a week if those numbers were real. I do wonder why they even bother with the economy section if it is not even remotely close to actual? Maybe to make us feel better that we do get 13-14mpg driving like a grandmother lol

I average 34.something mph, stop and go for 12 miles per day and get on it every now and again (which I just noticed the RAM app tracks and tattles on). Other guys are getting 7 ish too. The only people I've seen getting better than 11 are using the vehicle estimator and not hand calculating or freeway drivers.

With how much the truck tattles to RAM, I'd never JB4 or black box the truck without full knowledge that warranty is gonna be a problem because you can't hide the real world data.

Shit i just got 15.9 on a little roadtrip this weekend but my freeways are 60-65mph so right at what seems the sweet spot for mpg. Normal daily driving i'm at 14.5 but damn there are some huge swings in numbers.

hand calculated or using the trucks mpg estimator? On my road trips, I too found sweet spot was 50-65 and vehicle would give me 14-16 mpg but hand calc real numbers ended up closer to 12/13

If anyone takes the time to read your posts it would be easily understood that you either work for ford or really hate RAM. Always with passive aggressive comments like you are informative but in reality your whole job here is to try to spread panic for others to not buy this truck. Maybe you work for a dealer and want others to not pick up their trucks so you sell them for more, who knows. Every post, every time.

HAHAHAH bro wtf are you talking about? triggered over nothing. post some screenshots of him trying to get someone to not buy an RHO . Been here since day 1 and @Cautionary Tale has been one of the most supportive, helpful, insightful guys in here. I get nothing but laughs and only see wholesome posts from the guy.

My truck is stock as far as the engine goes.

I have babied it so far, but at this point i should drive it like i stole it for those MPGs lol

My recent 800 mile trip I averaged about 13.8 hand calculated but what killed it was got stuck in snow storm so first tank was 11.6. it was a brutal 6.5 hours 30 miles stretch. On way back 80+mph 2 tanks one was 14.6 and another 14.3.

This makes me feel MUCH better. Glad to know its not just me.

I agree 100% that cautionary tale is a great guy and is in no way trying to put Ram down or be anything but helpful in his posts. Also the numbers a couple of us posted are not real numbers. In the ram app you can see your past drives. It said my 20 mile ride to work used 7.6 gallons lol. Obviously that app is very broken because I have been getting slightly better than 13mpg hand calculation and 13.2 trip computer over the last 300 miles
