After paying attention, mine does seem to calibrate to actual temp after 15-20 mins of driving. I’ll post back if this changes.
That’s a mopar sensor for $15?Update: Took to dealer they installed new sensor it is in the driver side mirror ($15 ) on amazon if you want to do it. So far my temps now seem to be pretty close to accurate temps. Will circle back on this later on.
I had dealer do it...but after watching it...I went on amazon found the PN...$15...easy job. Video coming on this soon. That’s a mopar sensor for $15?
Did it require a many recalibration, or just plop the new sensor in and you were good to go?
I’ve been paying more attention and mine acts similarly.Mine is off by 10 degrees but only after it has been in the sun for a bit. Seems once it goes up no amount of driving will get it to be accurate again however. On cloudy days and my morning drive it is always spot on with my phones local weather app.
Coming from a 2020 Ram with a black mirror, this wasn’t a problem with a properly functioning sensor.Well, they put the probe in an area that’s surrounded by black plastic. What did they expect? No wonder it reads high in direct sunlight.
P/N for reference?I had dealer do it...but after watching it...I went on amazon found the PN...$15...easy job. Video coming on this soon.
I looked it up online and found the following Mopar P/N: 68457701AAP/N for reference?
Ok, now call me crazy, but if you put a thermometer in the black housing its going to read the ambient heat radiating off that object. This isn't rocket science...Got a chance to do a sun soak today with the new sensor. I was off by over 20deg this time
Both sensors are pretty much identical in function. Best I ever see is 5deg high.
Agreed. I don't need my speedometer to work either. I just look at the trees as I go past and make a general guesstimate.Ok, now call me crazy, but if you put a thermometer in the black housing its going to read the ambient heat radiating off that object. This isn't rocket science...
This is going to give you an approximate reading given the current conditions. When Im in traffic in Houston on hot day, ALL of my cars are off because of heat radiating off the concrete.
If you guys need to know the most accurate reading, use your weather app, put your arm out the window to see if its raining or look at the trees to see if the wind is blowing.
I feel like many are you making a bunch of nonsense out of nothing
Chris
Speedometer is different, from the factory that should be accurate as there are no variables outside a minute differences in air pressure and tire wear. Temperature is a WHOLE other level of variabilities.Agreed. I don't need my speedometer to work either. I just look at the trees as I go past and make a general guesstimate.
