Speedometer is different, from the factory that should be accurate as there are no variables outside a minute differences in air pressure and tire wear. Temperature is a WHOLE other level of variabilities.

Who here bought the truck to tell them if it was hot or cold outside? 🤣

Chris

PS My 66 Mustang tells me 5 things. Speed, water temp, oil pressure, volts and fuel gauge. You know what I miss.

It sure as hell isnt the outside temp gauge....its a tach. I will need to add that with the new 363 that is sitting on the engine stand. That's it.

Everything else is just fluff(well ac is pretty darn nice and I may end up adding that :) )
I agree that I don't care if the truck has an ambient temp gauge. But if you give me one, I am going to bitch about it not working correctly.

wow so this must be a well known issue for 25s...my buddies 25 Ram 1500 big horn is saying 10-15f hotter also.
My 2020 Cummins was the same way. Hell, my Tesla is 5-7° off. Temperature isn’t real man! šŸ˜‚

I’m going to jinx myself, but ours has been pretty darn accurate. That doesn’t make sense because they’re all built the same. I’ll take a screenshot of the weather app and the display next time I’m in it.

Chris
Same for me as well

I haven't had this issue...until I responded to the poll, then today it read 91 when it was 77. Thanks for the jinx.

Ok, now call me crazy, but if you put a thermometer in the black housing its going to read the ambient heat radiating off that object. This isn't rocket science...

This is going to give you an approximate reading given the current conditions. When Im in traffic in Houston on hot day, ALL of my cars are off because of heat radiating off the concrete.

If you guys need to know the most accurate reading, use your weather app, put your arm out the window to see if its raining or look at the trees to see if the wind is blowing.

I feel like many are you making a bunch of nonsense out of nothing :)

Chris
I know what you're saying, but I had an all-black 2022 Built to Serve Big Horn before my RHO, and live in South Florida. The temperature reading was always within 1 to 2 degrees of the actual temperature. So the 2025s being off by 10-15 degrees isn't really acceptable.

I looked it up online and found the following Mopar P/N: 68457701AA

I searched Amazon and did find there are multiple options. The Mopar sensor was a bit longer delivery time, and my first one wasn’t working well anyways, so I chose this aftermarket option.

I just completed install. It’s a couple minute job. Hopped in the truck and it was reading exactly the same temp as my garage. My garage was 15F higher than outside temps, so I took a drive and this sensor recovered quickly. I suppose it was down to ambient temp within about 8-10mins.

I’ll report back after a sun soak.
Did you just pop off the plastic cap and change the sensor or is there more work involved? I just bought the sensor on Amazon for $13

IT looks like a super easy install!

I will update and get the correct version of this sensor and put in the top of this post for you guys to buy .

Yes, that’s all I did. However, that didn’t correct any issues. I’ll be returning the sensor I bought on Amazon, but it was worth a shot!

My 2020 Ram (same mirror and sensor location) also didn’t have this issue.

Thank you!

It’s not a huge deal, but the temp being that inaccurate has been annoying. Aside the the occasional ā€œwarning light not working, needs servicedā€ message, the truck has been butter 1800 miles in. Couldn’t be happier with it.

Hopefully someone will crack the ECU sooner than later. I’m patiently (for now) awaiting E85, injectors, any other mods to support the hopeful coming of an upgraded turbo kit. The more I read up on these ZF transmissions, the more comfortable I am. The piggybacks may be fine, but not being able to make changes in the TCM leaves me uncomfortable. Otherwise, I would be giving the Cat6 a try.

Appreciate your video reviews! Very helpful.
