I went on a similar journey. I had a 1500 Rebel that I LOVED, but we got a large 5th wheel camper and traded for a 2500. Only had the 2500 for a short time as it was a Tradesman and I missed a lot of the features. So I ordered a 3500 Longhorn. LOVE this truck. I was surprised at the minor price increase to go from a 2500 to a 3500. Definitely liked the 3500 better for towing.

Things got tight at work, so we decided to sell the camper. Now we have no need for the heavy duty, so getting the RHO.

You will love it. I was fortunate, mine never had a single issue.

The RHO absolutely rips. It looks super aggressive, you will get asked about it, mostly because people think it's a TRX. You can tune them close to what a TRX can do. Just a crazy fun truck and crazy comfortable on the inside. I'm gonna miss it.

Coming on here to comment. Ordered a '26 RHO and I am coming off a 2500 HD GMC which tows amazingly well.
My TT GVWR is 6700. I am definitely at what i would consider max towing capacity of the RHO. I passed on all options except for the level 1 in order to save as much payload as possible. I am guessing I will be right around 1400 payload probably a bit less due to the now included spray in bed liner. One generator, 2 dogs and a wife puts me pretty close to max payload.

6700 x .1: 670
2 adults and 2 dogs: 455
5k Generator: 110 lbs.

That adds up to 1235 lbs. IF I was to use 15% instead of 10% to calculate trailer tongue weight I would be over max by about 100 lbs. Grand Designs says that my 2150 rb tongue weight is 427 which puts me at about 1000 lb tongue weight and leaves a little wiggle room.

Bottom line, I am right at the max capacity, slightly less or slightly more than my max payload based on how the calculation is made.... and I always use a WDH.

I personally would not tow anything over 7500 lbs with a RHO. Having 1000 lb/ft of torque in a 2500 HD to pass on the highway or go over montain passes is hard to deny. Often tow going 70-80 mph in that truck.

I only camp for a few weeks a year now, so I think the RHO meets my needs... but I definitely feel like I am at the limit and will be towing at max speeds of 65 mph.

'26 come with a great warranty. I doubt the airbags would affect that, but would be an investment I would consider for the few weeks I tow if warranty remains unaffected.

At 9k and frequent towing, I think the OP is doing the right move.

My 2 cents.

I almost pulled the trigger on a 2025 Ram Limited 2500 HD. The new cummings motor is pretty awesome. Addressed the turbo lag and also has preventative additions to limit catastrophic damage from fuel pumps blowing up (looking at you Bosch cp4). It's a nice truck all around, but it also has the least amount of payload of all of the HD's if I remember correctly,.
Will still be great for 9k towing.
With an HD motor however, be prepared for big ticket items over the life of a diesel.
At 166k on my Denali, I have invested around 10k in repairs (emissions, maintenance, other parts going bad).
I was very much ready for a non-diesel truck to come back into my life.

Good luck.

@Ctech-Review I have watched all your videos on your towing experience with the RHO. But one thing to that felt you should of covered was the grade shifting on the hill. I was mostly interested that aspect on your towing video and you didn't the have video of it break down the grades. I tow a similar camper with my TRX and the is the biggest thing I'm worried about with the RHO. Would have been nice to see if the hurricane could slow your camper down a 7% grade hill. I know you did cover briefly and you said it wasn't great, but I would like to see video of just how much it can slow your camper.

Gents,

I love my RHO. It's given me 3100 miles of problem free fun. Unfortunately though my wife wanted a camper, I said yes, and it's right at the max of what the RHO can tow and that's without any gear etc...we've got a big family so the camper had to be big. This is an end of an era. Didn't have it long but it was a fun ass truck. Pretty sad, but I have to get a 2500 to tow this camper safely. Going to miss all the looks I got driving it around town & the constant conversations at the gas station asking if it was a TRX. It is what it is. Liking the Rebel Diesels, also there is a Power Wagon for sale near me but I think they max out at 10k lbs and even that is cutting it too close.
I just pulled my toy hauler the other day and the RHO did a great job ! I watched all the temps and pressures and everything never moved above normal !!! I was VERY surprised to say the least !! The camper is 10,000 empty !!! so I'm a little over but the truck pulled it like a pro !!!

When you try to make a warranty claim for the driveline on your truck, Ram will have a nice piece of evidence from you in the form of an admission of guilt, for having far exceeded the manufacturer's towing rating. Well done.

enjoy the 2500! I went from one to the RHO I really liked that truck!. How big is the camper you got? I have been towing our camper all summer with our RHO..with air bags it feels darn near as solid as our 2500 was.
What does your camper weigh ?? I pulled my 10,000 lb.'er with my RHO, then watched your video and bought the air bags cause I REALLY need them cause I'm a little over :ROFLMAO:

It's happened before. I hope you understand that Stellantis monitors social media, including chat forums. You really shouldn't put anything out there that you wouldn't say directly to them. Just sayin'

It's one thing to do stupid things that risk your life and property, it's another to do stupid things that risk other's. Please don't drive on public roads when you are significantly over the towing limits on your truck.

GVWR 'is not' a simple calculation of how the drive train should perform.

It represents the ENTIRE vehicles ability to SAFELY perform under specified weight restrictions.

For SAFETIES sake - don't be a piss ant pulling a bale of hay.

I spent nearly 35 years running and overseeing all kinds of traffic accidents. Occasionally, we would get a truck with trailer mishap. Some of those, folks would push the weight limits, and it contributed to the accident. Please don't do it. It is not pretty and sometimes innocents are involved.

Between the weak brakes, light weight and soft suspension, please do not tow overloaded. Innocent families on the road will thank you.
