King Shocks - question

Reach out the Thuren Fab. He put kings on his truck. From what I understand it’s a beast for high speed off road now, but a bit hard for everything else. Which is expected I guess considering Kings would be a HELL of an upgrade if you plan or getting serious off road.

You can also reach out to Bobby at Zona Motorsports. He has/had a full ADS kit he was selling. Pretty bad ass stuff as well.
100% ram thuren on our Ram 2500 with there custom tuned Fox shocks and was impressed how well it did, plus the guys at Thuren are solid.

Are you drunk? You seem a bit more off than usual. King makes fantastic suspension, overkill for the RHO if you ask me. ESPECIALLY for the 20” rim and Ram bar folks.

But if you have the money and don’t give a fuck what people who’s Offroad knowledge doesn’t expand past this truck, then it’s a sweet upgrade. Or dick measuring contest. However you’d like to interpret it. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
Maybe I’m misunderstanding, so you buy a shock to do ONE thing but lose all flexibility?

Yes, lol. That why I mentioned if you’re trying to get more serious and build a machine geared more towards Offroad, than Kings are awesome. They’ll still be β€œfine” everywhere else, but it certainly won’t be as smooth on road as it is now.

You have that sweet Miata, think of it in terms of building it more for your track day car, the better it gets for the track, you probably lose some creature comforts everywhere else, right?

Yeah, but no, if I spend 80 plus…it should do everything better. Not just one?

Chris

So why are you not running then if they’re superior?

Chris
I think I explained it pretty well above. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

I have 20,000 miles on my truck and multiple off roads trips that were hundred of miles at a time. It does β€œfine” for a stock truck, I just said it would do BETTER Offroad with Kings.

I don’t have them because I’m poor. Buuuut if I start a gofund me, would you donate?

I mentioned that above.... They don't hold up well to the midwest climates, plus king doesn't run a live valve setup, no way I am losing that feature on this truck. Fox is working on something and it should be good when its released. The RHO is good enough, If I want to push it off road I have other toys for that. I like how the stock suspension works, especially towing and in the corners far better than a single or dual live valve stock F-150 Raptor setup.

Thanks!! That makes sense. :)

And I appreciate that too. Was just confused I guess. It’s been a long day.

Peace out you two. :)

How is King good when it defeats all options on our truck? What does it do that’s superior?

Chris
It will make your vehicle manually adjustable. You would be limited to ordering a setup that aligns with your primary needs for the suspension. This means if you order a setup for desert running, whoops, jumping, etc. it will more than likely result in a negative effect on the street. If you want something that performs better than these trucks already do at jumping or rhythm sections, I would suggest you put that money towards a RZR Pro R or dedicated off-road race vehicle. There is only so much to gain and enormous amount to lose as far as handling goes. I do wish someone like Shock Therapy would offer something for these shocks that would exaggerate the different settings we already have. Now, if you are building your RHO into a luxury pre-runner and don’t care about the loss of comfort onroad, the sky’s the limit.

Has anyone contemplated going into some King Shocks?

Will I loose all the driving modes if I were to do this? I am running eibachs but honestly, I feel like the truck still glides like a cadillac even in sport mode. I did customize and changed the settings and still dont like it. I feel like the truck is heavy for the suspension and thought maybe an after market King, Icon, Fox would make the ride better. I know hard to pay $5K after dropping $80K ++ but you are already invested in it..

Thanks in advance
$5k for kings? Front only, $10k for all four corners. Carbon shocks has nice offerings, check with them for RJO but I’m sure they’d fit/work.

Ooor even better, an X3 or Maverick R, and MTS rework. πŸ˜‰ haha jk.

I know this is KINGs suspension topic, but there's other brands like ADS and Carbon Shocks. Looks like Carbon Shocks are more on the affordable side compared to the other 2 brands. Again, all manually tuned to your liking.

You are correct, those machines do need to be reworked. Lol
