Launch enabled, then engine bogs & loses power (likely driver error)

I get people’s hesitation. Flooring your brake & throttle simultaneously just plain feels wrong. And apparently, it’s easy to get the launch procedure wrong.

I remember one of the 1st vehicles to offer launch control ended up at Jay Leno’s Garage. Porsche Panamera. It arrived with a Porsche engineer who explained the launch procedure to Jay. Jay got it totally wrong & of course, nobody told him (on film).

Done correctly, it’s safer & easier on your drivetrain than simply flooring the throttle from a stop. Why? Because it “pre-loads” the drivetrain components, so gear faces don’t “smash” together.

Of course, doing it wrong puts some serious stress on your transmission & engine mounts. So if you’re gonna do it, do it correctly.

I’m at rough 1300 miles and I’ve launched mine at least 10 times. Just as fun the 10th time as it was the 1st. Don’t be a bunch of pussy bitches. Launch that MFer

Damn, this forum given everyone so much anxiety they dont even want to use a standard feature. :ROFLMAO: Had a great time reading through this! LOL
This forum gave me so much anxiety that I was convinced my truck wouldn't start after sitting at the airport for 3 days. Its not healthy to be here.

Did you check what your stock trucks launch rpm was set from the factory? Just curious

Hey, don’t you be knocking them until you at least get that truck successfully home and started!

My wife asked me if we can take a mini vacation since we’re already driving to pick up the truck… and I’m thinking… absolutely not. I think let’s all just pray we make it back home safely!

If I remember correctly, I didn’t have to change it very far from factory settings. Maybe like 500 RPM or so. Pretty sure I have it set at 3200…? I’ll have to double check after work.

UPDATE: Tried and failed launch... 3000 rpm applied pressure, pressed gas... Think it was more of a brake launch. Pulled hard, and then forgot to shift. Was in manual mode. Too much going on. LOL... Sad part is ive used the launch function in other vehicles. Did pull hard. Will attempt again when i have a good spot to do it...

Outcome: FAIL
