Mighty Mouse Catch Can

The factory doesn't install one because "someone" will forget to empty it and you will have chocolate milk filling the intake manifold...And then things will go south after that.
The primary issue, since re-burning of crankcase blow-by was mandated by the EPA, is where are people going to empty the catch cans? On the ground at the gas station (like many diesel owners used to do with their water/fuel separator filters), down the sink drain, in a hole dug by the owner?

It’s a problem.

Search YouTube & you will find some good explanations of why catch cans are needed. But, there are lots of variables in how they work on a particular engine & what type of catch can is ideal. If you don’t fully understand all the variables, you can do more harm than good.

Plus, if you live in an area where freezing temps are common, the blow-by can freeze, which can result in main seal blow-outs when crankcase pressure has no place to vent.

I thought I fully understood all the variables until I watched a particular video. The YouTuber talked about Hurricane engine intakes being pressurized whenever boost is generated (duh, of course). What happens when there is no vacuum? An improper catch can set-up can send the boost pressure back into the crankcase. Oops!

Bottom line: If you fully understand all the physics of your particular engine & select the correctly valved set-up & maintain it properly, there are some benefits. But, if you are asking why you might need one, you probably need to stay away,

All great points...But if the factory line had enough condensation in it that line would freeze too...And I would imagine there is a check valve on the crankcase side so the factory line doesn't send boost pressure back to the crankcase...But now I need to know if there is a check valve on the crankcase side!!!...OCD sucks🤣
 
Still waiting on Dual Can setup. I want both negative and positive pressure of the system.
 
Just reached out to Mighty Mouse today, their site is saying "available but still under development". I'd like some clarification on what that means prior to buying one. I didn't have much luck with Banks on their "release" of the Pedal Monster and don't feel like dealing with trial and error.

how would the improper catch can send the boost back to crankcase? or did he mean that if it's not connected correctly?

tried to configure one on radium website and it was pretty penny but yes dual would be great even tho might not needed that much on the clean side
