MRT extreme cold start **update**

So final update (kinda long). After driving with the MRT Extreme "straight" pipes for about a week, I had to switch back to the Trail Rated mufflers. Just too loud for daily driving. I found myself driving slower at times just so I wouldnt hear the exhaust as much. Some days I enjoyed it, but some days I just wasn't in the mood for all that volume. In my opinion, if you are looking for a deeper tone or rumble, you're honestly not going to get it with most, if not all, of these exhaust system upgrades. Its a 6 cylinder and will always sound like a 6. You will get more rasp and definitely more volume if thats what youre looking for but not a significant increase in deeper tone. You may gain about 10-15% more of a deep tone which in my opinion is worth looking at the MRT Trail Rated.

On a performance note. I noticed that when I switched back from the Extreme pipes to the Trail rated mufflers, I felt a fairly significant increase in vehicle responsiveness. So I would conclude that the straight pipe set up is a tiny bit restrictive and the mufflers allow for a better air flow throughout the entire system.

I came from a 2022 Built to Serve Big Horn with the 5.7 Hemi etorque. I had a MBRP muffler on it which gave it a nice deep growl. I videod a cold start with the 5.7 and the MBRP muffler and my current cold start with the MRT Trail Rated set up is louder as in the case of sheer volume. So im going to roll with the MRT Trail rated set up and enjoy it. Its 15-20% louder than stock and adds 10-15% more of a deep tone. Good luck.

Oh yeah, MRT Extreme has a ton of volume and very minimal drone. Just a ton of muffler volume every time you step on the pedal to accelerate.

This does sound better than any of the complete kits I've heard.

I'm still having PTSD Twitches and Flashback Sticker Shock from the provider wanting $5300+ for an exhaust system that sounds like the stock exhaust system...

After hearing all the systems out and watching the exhaust system threads play out, Not one system sounds better than stock or makes me want to change over. Just my opinion. I have owned rippin V8s, 1000 hp+ diesels and still feel stock on this truck is perfect. As other have stated, every exhaust system i have heard just amplifies the sound of the I6 and sounds like a riced out honda civic. Just my .02 cents. The main problem i feel is V8 guys hoping to get a similar sound from this I6TT powerplant, never will happen. I truly prefer the stock exhaust, loud enough when you get on it, quiet when you want it to be, all you could ask for.

That being said, i have heard a few new BMW with basically the same engine that sound pretty good with aftermarket exhaust, wonder if any MFG will be able to replicate this but honestly happy with stock. If you want v8 sound buy a raptor R or TRX.

All just my personal opinion. Some people love their aftermarket exhausts and thats a win for them personally.

I added clamps back onto my stock valves to keep them open at all times… and I think I’m sold on it. The tone is great, and it’s linear now instead of on sometimes and quiet others. I’ll probably consider just having the valves cut out and replaced with short tube sections, and keeping all else as is.

I have an F80 M3 and went through similar games. Unplugging the valve controller allowed it to stay in an open state, then later you could use a coding device (or remote control) to force valves fully open/closed at will. Wonder if anything like that exists for the RHO?

So in other words, your wifey was gonna kill you after installing the Extreme Mid Pipes so you had to switch back to the Trail Rated :)

Do you have videos of the MRT trail rated?

Any drone on long drives?
I had MRT trail rated on first. Then I called MRT and bouggt the extreme pipes section. The MRT extreme sounds great at start up and idle but once you hit 2000-2500 rpms, the volume is just too much, in my opinion. Its loud. Too loud for me. I switched back to the MRT trail rated.
