I do a lot of highway miles and long road trips...went with 7500 and 15k on my first 2 oil changes. Probably going to drop to 6k changes now.I wouldn't go 10k in any car.. I used to have Audi loooong time ago and it's Long life oil was supposed to be changed each 12.5k miles.. some guys were changing it at 18.5k miles.. but it was ok if you did as it was still meeting the manufacturers schedules..
my dealer did 1st at 3000 and second at 8000. I think 5000 interval is about right
the Oil life on the dashboard is pretty accurate actually, the reason why it shows more life vs your miles is that it accounts for engine load, engine RPMs etc.. so if you spend most of the time driving under 2k rpm on highway, your oil life will probably be doubled
I just got back from a road trip and changed my oil prior. The oil life gauge is programmed to exactly 10k miles on my truck.I wouldn't go 10k in any car.. Options on mine are 'Off' or 'Warning + Active Braking'.Speaking of OTA updates, we just discovered something on the TRX forum.
In the TRX users manual, it documents that you can go into Uconnect and set Pedestrian Emergency Braking to one of three settings: Off, Warning Only, or Warning + Active Braking.
Members who removed their telematics boxes (and haven’t received OTA updates) still have those options. But those who are on the latest software, including me, do not have the “Warning Only” option anymore.
I’m curious if that’s across the board, including the RHO, or if it just affects the TRX. Anyone care to check?
Well that’s that, then. I’m still waiting for RamCares to reply back and explain what happened. The truck I purchased had the “Warning Only” option, but Ram reached in after the fact and took it away.Options on mine are 'Off' or 'Warning + Active Braking'.
On my 1st new Corvette, it specified 3K oil changes with Mobil 1…early 90s.I do a lot of highway miles and long road trips...went with 7500 and 15k on my first 2 oil changes. Probably going to drop to 6k changes now.
Yeah that's makes sense...worst case, something happens to the engine, the fact that the oil life meter reads 10k oil changes on this truck isn't my fault...it's on them until they fix it.On my 1st new Corvette, it specified 3K oil changes with Mobil 1…early 90s.
Anyway, I had an oil change before a 3K mile trip over 7 days. Took it right back to the oil change place after my trip. When they drained it, the oil looked brand new. Golden & clear.
I’m sure an oil analysis would should some contamination, but pretty sure I could have gone another 3K miles, no problem.
Most wear & contamination occurs during start-up/warm-up, then cool-down. Not too much of that happening when you drive 3K miles in 7 days.
