Agree...It's funny you mention that. It really is. Take Texas for example, you could literally be 10+ hours away from someone who lives in the same state. California has to be close to 20 hours? In NJ, can drive the entire state in about 3 hours. Like these guys from Monmouth County. That's roughly just under an hour away from me. In NJ, we consider that living like really far from each other.
We live in Apple Valley, CA. (About 90 miles NE of LA). We used to drive north, to Lakehead, CA, to visit family.
According to the trip odometer, it was 602 miles one way.
Pre-kids, the wife and I could drive this in 9 -11 hours, with normal, leisurely pit stops and time for meals. Post-kids, it approached 12-13 hours.
Apple Valley is over 165 miles from the CA/MX border, and Lakehead, CA, is approximately 100 miles from the Oregon border.
