Not interested. The juice aint' worth the squeeze. Turbo lag doesn't affect quarter-mile times, and any perceived turbo lag is offset by the transmission finding the right gear and downshifting. I'd be more interested in a true hand-held (not a piggyback) tuner.

So this plus tuner probs another 150-200hp?

Am I in the minority when I say this looks like a half baked idea? Even the presentation looks like someone's back yard project under the hood...

I'd bet a proper tune on an E blend would get you the 200HP. Seems like a huge upcharge to get a tune and stay within factory warranty. I hope this isn't the only DC tuning options for the RHO.

Honestly, I’d rather stay on pump gas. Personally, I would pay 10k for this if it adds 90hp.

Then eventually when the fun is worn out or my truck is paid off… down pipe and tune/plug in tuner.

To me E blend would be a constant inconvenient pain in the ass. Tune for power and electric compressor for initial boost for the win.

I wonder how tuning would work. If you’re injecting air into the turbo to spin it up quicker, wouldn't that throw off the AFR? Tuning for that would be a bit difficult. This is also quite old tech, hopefully RAM buttoned up some issues with it.

If only there was a product that has documented and proven data that increases spool and boost down low that you could buy today...
Oh Wait!!! That exists..

PSP Fat Cat

3 more PSI as low as 2K rpm. Said differently 60-70 hp/tq at 2k !!

added bonus it doesn't look like a middle school shop class put it together

That’s not really how the electric compressor works. It creates its own boost that doesn’t depend on exhaust heat and pressure to spin it up therefore it creates boost quicker. Yes, that boost turns into exhaust, which then drives the other turbos so you are partially right. The electric compressor will only come on in the initial throttle movement at low rpm. Then switch off after the twins are alive.

Ahh, sorry I confused it with the air compressor aided version. The electric version was used in F1 for a short period. I believe Mercedes used it.

it was used from 2014 to last year, it's an electric motor between the turbo compressor and turbine, that would be best case scenario. i assume wildly expensive though. this electric turbo they're trying out seems like an early 2000's ebay purchase for a honda civic. not a fan of it.

It seriously does. I remember seeing advertisement in Sport Compact magazine for electric "turbos" haha.

Old Tech...AMG has been doing this for a long time...

I don't get the hype, this thing exists for years

The Miata guy is forgetting something very important. The turbo is driven by HOT exhaust gas. if you don’t believe that rev the motor in neutral and watch your boot gauge, then stand on it in gear and watch the boost gauge. Totally different outcome. Now attach a blow nozzle to a compressed airline and notice how cold the air is coming out of it. Injecting a lot of cold air into the exhaust side of the turbo is counterproductive. Especially when it hits the cats assuming he’s still has them.

Yes this could come to a lot of engines, but requires 48v electrical architecture to support. I spoke with Ram/SRT engineering about it today.
