I know we’re all sick of exhaust threads but if anyone has installed bullet resonators on their exhausts (regardless of whether your baseline was stock or aftermarket) can you comment on how significant the changes were to tone, rasp, cab drone and gear shift farts?

The few posts I see where resonators were tried were in combination with other more significant changes (I.e.: adding downpipes, cutting out the muffler, etc) so the impact from adding the resonators alone gets lost in the mix.

I’m having a tough time admitting I’m always going to hate the sound of my RHO…white flag is at the ready but it’s not raised yet.

Bullet style resonators do very little. It really depends on what you're trying to do as to whether you'll see a net positive from adding resonators. The factory exhaust is hardly loud so I am not sure what you're trying to address. Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonators would be better to tame down rasp or just make the factory exhaust quieter.

Just get a TRX and be done with it.

Too much invested and I otherwise love the truck, all other complaints are even more trivial.

My mistake was watching a security cam video with audio of me leaving the driveway. 😝

Factory exhaust was replaced with the MRT Trail Rated. Unfortunately just adding resonators to the Trail Rated won’t get me where I would like to be.

The only two systems out there that I like the tone on are the AFe Vulcan and the MBRP, both of which delete the muffler but come with a lot of drone and more volume than I need. It sounds like the Vulcan has the worst drone with several users removing it for that reason so I’m leaning toward trying the MBRP and adding bullet resonators to it.

Objectives: Retain the MBRP tone and eliminate (or drastically reduce) the cab drone while minimizing dB level and gear shift obnoxiousness.

Just go back to stock and delete the muffler. With the flaps still left in the exhaust there is no drone while cruising but you get plenty volume when you gun it. Sounds pretty nice to me. I have pondered losing the flaps because I really want a low end rumble while cruising but when I am cruising the freeway and don't hear the exhaust at all it makes me think twice.

Edit: my only complaint is not getting much exhaust sound when you're accelerating at low throttle. I have to take off like an a-hole to really hear the exhaust around town.
