Todd from RealTruck got some time with an RHO today and put the factory intake side-by-side with the S&B setup, and there are some pretty noticeable differences once you have everything sitting next to each other.
Starting with the air boxes, the factory box is much more tapered and has a considerably smaller opening for incoming air. The S&B box has a much larger opening and significantly more overall volume.
Next up is the filter itself. Putting the factory Mopar filter next to the S&B filter really shows the difference. The S&B filter is substantially larger, and you can see just how much more filter material/surface area you're getting.
The intake tubes are another interesting comparison. Looking straight through the factory tube, there are more transitions and areas that can create turbulence as the air makes its way toward the engine. The S&B design gives the incoming air a much cleaner path.
Sometimes the side-by-side tells the story better than the spec sheet does.
We didn't get a chance to grab a good sound clip today, unfortunately, but Todd is planning to get one for us next week. I'll add that here once we have it because I know that's probably what half of you actually want to hear.
If anyone is interested in the S&B intake for the RHO, shoot me a message and I can help you out with one. We also carry the S&B cleaning kit, if you're ordering the intake, I'd recommend grabbing the cleaning kit at the same time. You'll need it eventually anyway, and it saves having to place another order and pay shipping later.
Any questions about what Todd found during the install/comparison, post them up and I'll do my best to get you an answer.
