This is what I was thinking. Happened the other day right as I hit about 80mph. But just once over a 14 mile trip.

I was wondering if it's the drive shaft clunk issue? Happens when I go from constant throttle then accelerate to pass the typical mini van in the fast lane that won't move over.

Not sure… I need to look up this drive shaft clunk issue… but hearing it when passing a minivan sounds about right lol.

I can't imagine wanting to get to either of those places that fast. I'd be going 15.

I don't know how to really explain this very well. I'm not sure if anyone has experienced it.

Sometimes when driving on the interstate at high-ish speeds... maybe in the 80s or so... I'll feel the most slight occasional brief stutter/jerk/or clunk....
It's not super frequent... maybe 1-3x over an hour drive.

It's very slight but just enough to notice something weird happened. No check engine lights or anything else that would cause concern.

I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else or if this is a sign of something to check out sooner than later.

Happens to me too, sport between 7/8 at roughly same speed. About to hit my 5000km (3,106mi) mark and send it in for an oil change and rear diff. Will update if that gets rid of it.

My truck has done this several times.... ironically it does it in the same part of the freeway everytime for me. It's 80-85mph and it feels like the transmission tries to lock up another clutch in the transmission while it's already in another gear. it's definitely low throttle angle/ part throttle. Just enough to maintain the 83mph or so - and I think the road transitions from downhill to uphill or vice-a-versa. Once I get the RAM logger on it - it'll be much easier to see. Happens to me about 1 out of 4 trips on this particulare road. It's a problem for sure. Has anyone reported it to the dealer so that engineering can take a look at it?

So I was cruising on my way home yesterday afternoon, running right at 93 mph in sport mode. This random stutter happened 3 times within about 10 minutes. It was very pronounced, almost like I'd hit a large bump in the road or something bumped my rear end. I wasn't accelerating and wasn't hard on the pedal....just steady throttle and holding at 93 mph. Guess I'll add it to the list of shit to get checked out when my truck goes to the dealer.

Holy shit I'm so glad this thread came up. I've been experiencing this exact phenomenon in my truck too, and It's been driving me nuts. Basically 100% what everyone else is saying. It's been happening more and more often I feel like too.

I don't recall it ever doing it until around 2-3k miles on the truck (I'm at 5k now), which is not a good sign to me. If it happened since day one I'd actually feel more comfortable. To me, this indicates a potential (very premature) wear issue.

On a long (2hr-ish) drive to Philly a few months ago, I probably noticed it 10 or more times? Lately I noticed it about 2 times a day on my 20 minute highway commute. I drive my truck fairly hard. Not abusive or stupid, but hard. I get 9mpg. This is probably why it's happening to me more often than some (again, not a good sign- indicative of premature wear)

To me it almost feels like the transmission is slipping, which scares me. Not sure if this is the correct assessment though.

For the record this is exactly why I'm hesitant to tune this thing. Especially with how hard I push this truck. If some of these transmissions are screwy and start blowing at 10-20-30k miles, I do not want to pay out of pocket to fix it. I also don't want to speed up the failure by pushing another 100lb.ft of torque to the transmission. I'm already $20k in the hole on this thing if I were to sell it today lol.

For what it's worth this has happened to me 100% on asphalt highways, we do not have concrete roads in NJ (thank god, because they're loud as fuck to drive on and shitty for traction, idc if they last 100 years)

So if you had to speculate, you would say it's transmission related ? Any possibility of it being a driveshaft / driveline issue ?
I wonder if the ZF 8speed is coming underfilled or overfilled from the factory ? Possibly benefit from a fluid change to a better synthetic ?

But as soon as I put it in SPORT, it did it fairly quickly. And I agree it almost feels like a transmission slip. I'm wondering if a simple transmission service/diff service will correct it. Was planning to have them done anyway since I'm at 18,500 and due anyway. Definitely going to have have a line item on the work order for the issue, though. If nothing else, I at least want it documented.

That's interesting, as I'm always In sport mode. I'll try auto on the way home form work today and see if the same thing happens for me.


Please let us know how that service works out, and what exactly they end up doing (if anything). I'm due for an oil change myself and also want to mention this to them.

Weirder is that I barely felt it the first few times. It got rougher or more pronounced now. Mine is a 2026 been daily driving it about a month now and 2400km (1500miles) od reading.

Any feedback is great

Nothing has seemed to get worse with mine. Still only happening maybe once or twice over a 1hr commute in the range of 80mph.
I just touched 3k miles and it doesn't seem better or worse.
I pretty much exclusively drive in custom mode with sport transmission.

Mine only seems to happens once per trip once im in that range of speed. I keep thinking trans issue but this is my 3rd vehicle with these ZF eight speeds and never felt anything like it on those. I'll post back if anything changes and try out some different drive mode settups.
