It was 7 degrees when I landed in Des Moines. Granger Motors picked me up at the airport to bring me to the dealership 30 minutes away. I had ordered exactly what I wanted last May. The long wait paid off as you can see from the sticker. Local Dodge dealers wanted full MSRP. With the Mopar extended warranty, I saved about $10k in all. Granger made everything easy and made an extra effort to get my power side steps installed before I arrived (thank you). The step is perfect and shows up on my touch screen like they were installed at the factory. They really should be a factory option. I was fortunate with good weather albeit cold on the 2 day trip back to Tampa. Roads were clean and dry. I got to explore all the features and was pleasantly surprised by the heated seats and steering wheel. The ride is great. High and firm, but not stiff. Nothing rough or truck like about it but not spongy like an old Lincoln. It is easy to drive but a substantial vehicle with ideal comfort. The self drive will take some getting used to. In the limited time I played with it, it performed well. I will learn to trust it but it will take some time for me to surrender that control. I took it easy especially for the first 500 miles staying in the slow lane. I got over 15mpg and now have 1700 miles on it. Dealership helped pair my iPhone allowing be to text, call and get directions all by voice. Other features will take time to learn as well. I want to get the most out of this truck which with be my primary daily driver for the next 10 years. We are off to a great start!

Love hydro blue!!

Me too. Seems to be a love it or hate it color. I like blue. This metallic shade really pops in the sun yet still looks good at night. The darker shades look black without direct light.

Congrats! My experience black mirrors your own.

My adventure home was more "Raiders of the Lost Ark" to your "Driving Miss Daisy" :ROFLMAO:

Love the blue btw. If I had it all to do over again I'd have gone Forged Blue (probably worst color to capture in a picture)

How much was the warranty? What’s the length / miles it covers I’m curious before I get into the finance office for mine

So it’s all very different. We went with 8yr 85k miles with a 200 deductible. Figuring we won’t put more than 8-10l miles per year on it.

$2705.

Realize it runs concurrently with the factory warranty.

Thanks for the info, I used to never buy into them but I saved my ass buying one on my last vehicle as its engine/trans just got replaced 300 miles before the 85k ran out haha. Thanks!

I can’t stress this enough. I don’t care what Mark Dodge/Ram says. ONLY buy factory warranties. I worked for Mazda corporate. The aftermarket will do its damndest not to pay. I can give you a 1000 stories what they do.

We may differ on many things, politics, religion (I’m Christian and conservative) but I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy on an aftermarket warranty.

Chris

I did the 8/85/$200 also. I think it was $2800 which was several hundred less than if I bought it locally. It does pay to shop it online. I agree only Mopar not various scammers. All will try to deny a claim but you’re far better off with the factory. My son’s Jeep still enjoys its lifetime unlimited Mopar warranty that is no longer offered. Paid for itself when he need a cam shaft replaced.

We were given that by Dodge on our Durango because of crazy stuff that was found. Wish they still had it. Can’t beat it.

So the LDS extended warranty I bought from Mark is no good? I wonder if I can cancel it?

I bought it. I figure as long as MD stands behind it, I'd be golden. I don't normally ever get any kind of warranty but gave this a spin.

That’s a good point. I appreciate the perspective.

I bought it too. The finance guy (who I understand is making a sale) laid out what I thought was compelling enough case. Maybe he's full of shit, but we'll see.

I don’t know that particular company, I just know what I saw at dealerships as a DM for Mazda and then the dealer/customer requesting help when those warranties denied coverage.

I personally only buy factory. YMMV :)

MD guy said MOPAR isn't even owned by Stellantis anymore. Which led me to believe that there isn't even a "factory" option for us.

I would have to research that, but they put their name on it. When I worked for Mazda we used Chase for our finance arm and called it our own. But we stood behind it. They now use Toyota financial but have not changed any duty of service to the previous contracts.

I would suspect even if Mopar Warranty contract isn't owned by Stellantis anymore, their coverage is still the same as it always was. I went with Mopar for ours and am confident in it having had it before.

And if you chose to, you should be able to cancel and get most if not all of it back. My wife's previous purchase(before we were together or married) bought an aftermarket warranty and they denied every submission and then when she tried to cancel it, they had some creative language that allowed them not to return any of the money.

Again, I have not seen one decent after market warranty. The dealers that sell them get a large profit from the sale.

Good luck!

I’ve foolishly purchased 2 of these warranties in the past. One time was on a BMW M4 and they covered like half the repair, meaning $3000 still came out of my pocket. They used some technicality to get out of paying for the whole repair. Sold that car and got a refund for most of the warranty. They actually ended up sending me like $1000 more than they were supposed to haha. The second time I never ended up having to use it and just applied for a refund a few weeks ago. They do drag their feet on sending the money but haven’t had an issue getting a refund on these other than the long wait.
