For me, it's not about the impression anyone else is left with. I have an aftermarket exhaust on my C8 Corvette - and smile every time it burbles and pops when I decelerate and the amazing noise it makes when I accelerate. I would want that sound if there was no one else on earth to hear it - and it definitely makes me smile more now than with the stock exhaust. On the flip side, I like and enjoy the peace and serenity of my wife's Wagoneer when I'm in it. But again, that's more of a daily driver and not something that I drive to make myself smile. It didn't cost 120k and it doesn't go 0-60 in 4 seconds either. To me, vehicles that look fast and are fast should sound fast. Otherwise, I would own a Tesla.
