Veterans, what did you do in the military?

My father was deputy director of the armor school at Ft. Knox from the mid 80s to early 90s. Then he was the director of instruction at Ft. Lee; until his untimely death in 2001 during hurricane Iris in Belize along with 19 other souls due to an unscrupulous scuba diving boat owner.

I was at the USA Armor school at Knox in 1992

Small world

I'm also very sorry to hear that you lost him, and in such a tragic way

Retired army and department of defense and live in Radcliff outside Fort Knox. Ghost town now

My first time in Radcliff was when I was on PCS leave from S. Korea to visit my dad before heading to my next assignment. It was like most other Army towns (but a little different as I believe it was in a dry county then). He liked it and even got elected to the school board.
Not dry anymore. When I first got here it was, definitely sucked. It was like that because of the Carrolton bus crash in the 80’s that killed over 2 dozen kids (drunk driver traveling wrong direction). They were all from hardin county

Afternoon all, I was in the Navy from 1988-2014. Did Search and Rescue and then I got to fly Hovercraft for the last 13 years of my career. A little claim to fame is that they are using my Boats Photo for the Wikipedia write up of the Navy LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion). This was me and my crew in 2005 getting ready to enter the welldeck of the USS Kearsarge.

This thread is top tier. Thank you all for your service. Without it we would not be living in an amazing country where we can own luxury trucks like this and free country! Thank you.
