What oil did you pick?

Doesn't matter what oil you use, no more than 6,000 miles
It very much so does matter !! You can run Amsoil Signature Series oil for one year or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first !!

I found that the full synthetic has to meet MS-13340. I keep getting conflicting information about what specific brands I can choose from? Chat GPT suggested three:
Any full synthetic that meets MS-13340 is acceptable, including:
  • Mopar MaxPro 0W-30 (factory fill)
  • Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-30
  • Mobil 1 0W-30 (check bottle for MS-13340 approval)
I am having trouble finding these. On Amazon I ask if it meets MS-13340 and it says no.
Penzzoil 0w-40 here in South Florida. All day, every 5k miles. I also purchased 4 OEM Mopar oil filters.

I can imagine trying to get amsoil or any other brand to warranty your engine would be a complete pain in the ass.

If someone wants to spend more money on oil that can’t be proven to extend the life of an engine..go for it.

I have found it’s almost as cheap to buy an oil change package with tire rotation from the dealership as doing it on your own.

Plus, and trust me in this having been a former DSM, when someone wants warranty work..the factory will look to see what you had done at the dealership.

Zero work…and you’re slightly past miles or time…good luck. You have the dealership do the basics..they are much more willing to help.

Play the game at your own risk.

I use Amsoil signature series 0W40, I've done tests through Blackstone and it performs better than most including pennzoil platinum. If you want the best of the best you can spend all the money and get motul 300V series which is a true ester based oil. Another factor is good fuel such as shell 93V which uses additives that slow down the breakdown of oil that comes in contact with your piston rings.

Again, waste your money at your own risk.

Show me an engine that uses factory oil versus Amsoil over 100k miles and I will show you no difference.

Truth be told , no one has done an identical 100k miles test with exactly the same conditions with different oil. Analysis may show some differences in the lab but they don’t add up in the real world.

I have had multiple 200k mile Mercedes that only got…drumroll..Mobile1 synthetic. No issues at all.

Blow your money. I have better things to spend it on.

Ya I would have to agree, as long as your changing it often enough the end results will probably be similar. I like to be thorough and I have seen differences on reports but really we are talking about parts per million on wear metals, so what that translates into engine longevity is anyone's guess. I do know that having all the paper work and reports has fetched me a decent price for my vehicles when it's time to sell them.
