Wheel hop

It's gotta be something to do with the front diff and the full time 4wd right?

I’ve been wanting to come back on here and say that I’m still getting it. Maybe wheel hop isn’t the best way to describe it but the wheels are catching and slipping catching and slipping in order for the truck to move on those tight turns at low speeds for me.
That’s usually referred to as tire scrub and that’s what I occasionally experience but to be honest I’m not noticing it as much as I was in the first 2K miles.

I think you’ll get “It’s operating as designed” from the dealers but definitely doesn’t hurt to mention it.

Ok well it’s gotten worse and more noticeable even now on exit ramps I’m feeling it. I will wait till after the holidays and see if I can get it into my local dealer… also just started getting gray/blue smoke out the exhaust at startup. Looks like I may have gotten one of the bad ones. This is the downside of buying out of state at a discount dealer bc I will not be given a loaner

For what it’s worth, I noticed something (on my TRX) recently.
I’ve had my suspension in the Sport setting for a couple of years, but I recently put it in Street for a few days to give my injured wife a softer ride. Well, the wheel hop drove me nuts. As soon as I set it back to Sport, the wheel hop went back to being unnoticeable.
Might be worth trying before you take it to the dealer.

So not really a wheel hop but I now have 24000 miles and the front passenger CV joint has a tear in the boot and starting to drip grease. The dealership found it during an inspection that should come with any oil change. Everything else looked good so nothing to note. Also have not felt any scrub slow, fast, on or off road, but could see where the CV joint going out would possibly be a contributor.

Trucks Currently at the dealer for them to diagnose the problem. Will report back with the findings.

They called me Friday said they were going to bring another rho in and see if it drove the same.. got a call today and they stated that’s how it’s supposed to be. I feel like I haven’t been able to fully enjoy the truck because I feel like I’m just waiting for whatever this issue is to pop up and do serious damage to the diff or lock up on me and cause an accident. Probably end up selling bc of this

I would at least have an alignment done before you ditch the truck.

it’s tough to find a shop that does good alignments though.
