Hands free driving is 3 years free, no?
That is what I got from the online manual, but when trying to confirm this my dealer told me there is NO " hands free driving" !!! Sooooo I'm still trying to find out if its for 3 years or what (if it even has hands free) :ROFLMAO:

Anyone else feeling a little swindled realizing after a “trial period” that many of the features of the RHO including Hands-Free Active Assist (HFAA) will cost $15/month?!?

I mean I’m OK with subscriptions when they make sense. Like when you pay for a cloud service and it costs money to store/transfer your data, but I’m certain HFAA is basically a hardware only feature and they’re making us pay to use the hardware. This is getting a little ridiculous to me, especially after forking out over $90k for the RHO.

I’m sure the only reason they gave us all 3-5 year trials is because they knew there would be huge community backlash if everyone had to start paying right away. This long trial softens the blow enough people won’t complain. I wish the use of the subscription model was heavily regulat
ABSOFUCKINLUTLY !!!!!!

subscription service makes sense only becaue the maps will need to be updated for handsfree to continue to work as roads are developed and added.
So add a dollar to the price of next years truck to cover that upgrade cost to them !!! don't make us pay for it forever !! Especially when they will probably only update MAYBE once a year ! How much could that possibly cost ?? Not 15-20 bucks every month from every one of us !!!

But you already knew about this before you decided to buy the truck, correct? Do you know of a car manufacturer that doesn’t charge for their hands free driving feature? Ford blue cruise is $50/month, GM super cruise is $25-40/month, Tesla full auto pilot is $100/month, etc.
There is cloud data storage and live traffic data required for the hands free driving specific map module, along with mapping more roads to expand where it can be used, so it only makes sense that they have to pass the cost to the consumer.
Actually no, I did not know because it was included in a $10,000 PACKAGE! With Tesla you CAN pay $100 a month or you CAN pay a one-time $8000. By the way, that is FULL SELF DRIVE. Like literally navigating, turning at lights, stopping at stop signs. Autopilot is FREE which is more like what our hands free driving is.

It sucks, but I can live without it. I won't pay for a subscription short of needing one for the brake pedal which I am sure one day they will try to charge for.

From where ???

Howdy - guess you didn't see that I was replying to this?

So, my response.. yes, I know of a manufacturer that doesn't charge for the hands free driving - tesla for autopilot. And that they do have a one time payment option for full self drive ($8k, then no subscription charge after). What I have never heard of is paying $10k for the option then having to pay monthly.

You're not paying $10k for the hands-free driving. That's free. You're paying $10k for this:

Pedal Memory?

Just kidding, yes there are other things included in the 10k package. But you see where it says "Hands Free Active Driving Assist System" higher up, as part of level 1? That's part of the package. It doesn't say next to it "subscription required" does it? So one could assume that I'm getting that as part of the package. BMW charged a subscription for heated seats. We're paying for massaging seats in this package, will I one day find out that I'm required to subscribe to keep using them?

I'm not saying I'm mad about this, just that it should say somewhere on this list what requires and extra subscription.

On the window sticker where it mentions Sirius XM it says with 3 month subscription
With Ram Connect it mentions it's a trial.

No where on the Level 1 package does it say "with trial". That's my point.

Easy there chief...you're barking up the wrong serial killer. @MattH89 is not to be trifled with.

i'm still trying to understand why anyone is complainging yet there subscriptions are still free for atleast 1-2 years. I just got my truck and its good for 3. the 17.99 that the RAM app tries to get you to sign up for right away is for the wifi hotspot not for handsfree driving.

I dunno. My app lost remote start and location after a few months. Had to pay to get it back.

All I know is that I wont be paying any subscriptions, of any kind as long as I can see and drive a vehicle...The feature is a "Nice To Have" feature...Great on a long distance trip, but driving locally, its dormant for me.

My hands-free driving feature is only okay. Sometimes I think it’s pretty awesome and works really well, but I’d say most of the time it has me ping-ponging between lanes enough that I’m watching the lane MORE intently than if I had control of the wheel. I’m seriously concerned I’d get pulled over for potential drunk driving if a cop followed me for a few miles.

Regardless, subscriptions in general piss me off to no end… but even far more so when I paid for a truck build where so much of the cost went into adding the hardware for this feature. That’s a large sum of money just sitting there useless… full well knowing it could be functional if a SW switch was simply flipped to ON.

I don't know if different dealers can do different things as far as your services but i just got my truck this week my Ram Connect One service exires 12/02/2035, Hands-Free Active driving Assist 12/02/2028 and 3 months of wi-fi plus

The free trial is only good for 3 months ! Hands free is supposed to be three years, but mine hasn't worked since I've owned the truck !!
