2025 Ram 1500 Battery problems | Please Watch, could fix your issue

I think batteries getting killed overnight because ram definitely not having them charged fully all the time. I noticed on mine if I do 1 hour trip it runs at 14.5 volts but if I'm doing another trip soon after batteries start dropping. During my long trip I started at about 14.5volts and after about 3 hours it settled at 12.9 volts and stayed there for rest of the trip about 6 hours. Next day during first drive was at 14.5 again. I think of lights stayed all night with that 12.9 charge while driving definitely could of killed it.
That's odd.. don't batteries charge while driving? They discharge from idling/sitting right?

Maybe ram went Infiniti/Nissan route and decided to put sensor to not have alternator run all the time to save 0.1 mpg 😉 I think what they did was make batteries charge around 80% and cycle after. Anyway it was huge issues and most batteries were killed within 1-2 years.

Here’s the thing…nobody should have to plug in a trickle charger every night. If we wanted to plug our trucks in every night we would’ve jumped on the EV wagon. Being in the SW world, I’m shocked this hasn’t already been addressed.

What's funny is I'm here worried about my batteries and all prepared even with new jump started and my friend just picked up his 25 Tahoe and guess what next morning battery dead 🤣 maybe we not only ones with this issue.

Depends which software engineer you are referring to. For example, most of the software in these trucks is third-party. So, first step is to correctly identify which software is causing the conflict. Then, adjust the code, test it against all the other software, validate it in a lab as well as on real-world trucks. Then, you can release a patch. It takes a least a month if not better.
Yes fair, agreed and familiar, but these gremlins have existed well beyond a month, so my opinion there isn’t a sense of urgency regarding these issues.

This is unfortunately something that MANY manufacturers are dealing with. These new vehicles have so much new tech, wireless functionality, 17 million computers, all of which continuously drain batteries. Like @testerdahl said, I'm sure theyre working on a software patch but it's not a simple or quick process. I wish it was!

Regardless of the battery being 12.8 volts or 12 volts the system should have a hard shut down at 11. My battery was a 4 volts and would not even click the starter and a jump pack could not turn it over. If I was not at home I would have been screwed since it took a battery charger set to start on the main and my jump pack on the aux to start it up since neither worked by themselves. Small price to pay for what is already my favorite truck I have ever owned.

I have a battery tender on all my vehicles including the Zero turn John Deere and Gator John Deer. I have never replaced a battery in the Gator and it has a winch that gets used constantly to pull garbage cans in the bed for the wife...pulls snow plow up and down in the winter stays in a cold pole barn with the Zero turn summer/winter. Gator batteries are very expensive, it's a 2012 I bought new on same battery. Zero Turn 2015 same battery....2019 Ram traded in on same battery when it left. I take fobs out of the truck and cars.... Buy the tender that has Disulfate on it too, and you will not replace any more batteries. You will not have any more dead batteries. The house genrac generator runs them fine when electric fails as well, they don't pull that much current. Best investment that will pay you.

Why does your wife want garbage cans in the bed?

Why does your wife want garbage cans in the bed?
When they are full, and I'm not here she puts winch cable on the handles with lids shut and used blue tooth remote for the winched and pulls the cans in the bed one at a time for both cans......hauls out to end of driveway for garbage guys to pick up....dumps the cans with auto dump on the gator.....I bought her the little winch for that mounted in upper back wall of gator bed....big super winch on front mounted....she won't for me to do it...lol That gator she used for everything....her flower garden, weed control, takes the grandkids riding and dogs, you name it

Ohhh the Gator's bed. That makes a hell of a lot more sense haha.

As an update to my earlier post. Everything is again working as it should and the check engine light cleared itself. Be all set unless rams wants free advertising in my driveway again 🤣
