I've owned both. I'd tell you that from an owner's perspective that the Raptor is like owning the newest iPhone. It's reliable, you know what you're getting, has strong resale value, and is super recognizable. The RHO is like having the latest Samsung Android phone, lots of cool tech, high performance, but not nearly as refined, reliable, or recognizable. I am also in the car business and the age of RHO's sitting on the lot is so much higher even with all the crazy discounts out there. The Raptors just move much quicker even at higher prices or even above MSRP. A second version of the RHO with improved infotainment and electronics would really close the gap between the two. It seems like RAM is choosing to go back to their bread and butter with the TRX instead of focusing on improving the RHO.
This is the best part of these forums—getting to see so many different perspectives. I owned a 2023 Ford Raptor EcoBoost (Gen 3) and was disappointed in the power delivery and interior quality. It's interesting because I know some folks on here have had a lot of Apple CarPlay issues, but so far, knock on wood, my RHO has been significantly better than both my Raptor and F-250. Between my wife and me, we've had five higher-end Fords in one form or another over the last five years, and they've all been glitchy as hell.
The suspension has been a wash for me, as I definitely feel like there are things the Fox did better than the Bilstein, and vice versa. My RHO definitely tows a lot better, and while that's not why I bought the truck, it still comes in handy when hauling the boat short distances or pulling the motorcycle trailer.
However, the biggest turnoff for me was the value proposition. I still see Ford dealers marking up EcoBoost Raptors while they just rot on the lot. I don't understand if the dealers are trying to go out of business, but it doesn't make any sense to me. That engine needs a major refresh, or at least a significantly improved tune—whatever it takes to get the power figures up. If I'm paying that much for a truck, I don't expect to get beaten in a 0–60 run by a PowerBoost F-150, which is just kind of sad.
My RHO is significantly faster, and if you decide to do a piggyback tune (JB4/Cat 6), the gap opens up by an even greater margin. The inside of the Raptor feels very cheap to me—like it was an afterthought. The RHO's interior is beautifully finished and makes me feel like I'm sitting in a high-end truck.
I completely agree with people who say that competition drives improvements, and in the end, you have to pick the one that checks all the boxes for your needs. I would like nothing more than to see the EcoBoost Raptor get another 150 hp and 100 lb-ft of torque, as the outside stying is beautiful.
