Anyone have a Bed Cap?

GFC topper installed this week. Dropped the rear about 1/2 and 2/3 inch in the rear (driver / pass) . Happy with the product so far . We have a dedicated 3rd brake light wire on the loom under the rear of the bed . Don’t let someone try to charge you $555 to connect the 3rd brake light wire like the shop that put the GFC wanted . With the Eibach HD on the rear the handling is very smooth .

Looks great! And thanks for the 3rd brake light wiring advice too! Can't wait to get my build going, just a few more weeks (hopefully) til my truck arrives.

It’s funny how some people still think truck toppers are for old men… while the rest of us are out here using our trucks like people who actually do things. • a legit mobile basecamp,
• and a truck that’s useful 365 days a year…

Although I am not a bed cap type of guy, it’s hard to argue with the functionality. For me the aesthetics are hard to overlook. However, the upcoming RealTruck Infiniti cap looks slick.

The new air lift springs or 1.5” ONLY rear eibach springs seem to be the best options. If you’re lifting the front then I’d recommend doing the HD rear Eibach springs. We got a set of 1.5” rear Eibachs we’re gonna install on our lead truck that should prevent it from squatting as much when we’re loaded with ~800 pounds of gear but still allow us to fully boogy off-road

I have an RSI Smart cap and a decked system with pull out slider. l added eibach HD to the rear to account for the weight. It has a slight rake forward when I don’t have a load in the back.

This is my range vehicle that I take out to my farm to shoot so invariably there are multiple rifles and assorted ammo loaded on board. I keep tripods , yeti chair and shooting bags in the drawers. I’m happy with the setup for how I use it.

I am looking at getting the Rough Country Cap. I plan on using it for trips etc as needed then remove when not needed.

I am wondering if anyone knows what kind of roof rack/panel will fit and what mounting is needed. Size of rack for just on the top of the cap, and what mounting system, etc. Will I need to use cross bars then mount the rack to the cross bars, or is there a rack that will mount direct to the rails on the rough country cap?

Thanks for any help, new here and new RHO so working on getting things ordered and set up before trips this summer.

How are you liking this topper so far? I ordered something similar, although with glass on the sides and a sliding pass through the window into the cab.

I almost went with an RSI smart cap but I prefer how this is more level with the cab, where that has a slightly higher profile.

For all the haters on this thread.. 2 things:
1. I understand. I used to think shells were stupid. Then I got serious about outdoor recreation. Seems most appropriate to have a shell on a high-performance truck like this that can take us to remote places and cruise down places like hole in the rock road without rattling your teeth out.

Main reason I got mine, was because I was making a cross country trip from TN to CA back to TN and loading it up on the way. I also have full intentions of going off roading/camping with it, but as of yet havent so I cant talk about it...

As for the cross country trip, it was amazing. I was fully expecting a hassle with getting stuff in and out due to my size (im a bigger guy), but overall it was actually pretty easy. When on the drive, having the side access actually came in handy for getting access to stuff on the trip. I brought my dogs with me, so was super convenient to toss some of their basics into the side bin. On the way back, I was fully expecting some of my liquids to freeze due to how cold it was, and surprisingly the inside of the cab was a bit warmer than freezing (outside was in 20s). For the price (thank you @Nick797) it has been amazing, and has done everything I needed it to. Now that weather is warming up, and some of the parks/trails are opening up, I do plan on getting out camping this year with it, so that might change my opinion.

I have a smartcap on mine currently. Other than the massive headache on manufacturing defects and warranty claim delays. Its a good for my purposes. I put my Danes back their on a weekly basis and they get plenty of air flow, which was the important consideration. However, if you aren't using it to keep two large animals in, I probably won't recommend it based on the aforementioned issues. My friend has OVS on his Rebel and it looks pretty close. They are coming out with windows this year that fit into the sides. Still no access through the cab though like my smart cap.

That aside, I still prefer the no cap look. And its a pain with trying to loan MT bikes into the back.

If you go Smartcap, I highly recommend ordering it and having it installed through a shop. That way when there are warranty issues, they will take care of fixing them, not you and your 4 buddies. It weights about 250lbs.... Not a solo install job unless you have a hoist.

Joined the camper shell group.

Went to Rigs and Redbull @ OVS and won grand prize roof top tent but exchanged for camper shell since the tent would have been way to large and not allow me to fit my garage. Loving it so far has (1) minor scratch from shipping but cant complain since these camper shell cost are just crazy. Now I just have to wire for the 3rd brake light and figure out camera system.
