Body Shop Shenanigans

I subscribe to this and also don't have trips.

Please don't listen to anything Ram tells you. They are hucksters at best.
Ugh...not what I wanted to hear. By chance have you called them and asked them to troubleshoot?

I subscribe and also haven't had trips for months. I called about a month ago, got nowhere, and didn't feel like giving it the time. This thread sparked me off, you don't mow another guy's lawn. Multiple phone calls/reps and days later my case has been escalated after telling them @Scottie2Hottie and @Santino know when their lawn is getting mowed by another guy and I don't. Still no resolution and no faith, but now I'm committed and will report the outcome.

UPDATE: Body Shop called me today stating the truck was done. Side Note - I warned them upfront i am particular with my vehicles. Basically I expect repair to be close to pre-damage condition. Long story short I left the truck in their possession. My question to you guys is if repairs cannot be completed properly, what are my options? Another shop? Total? If I need to involve a lawyer, what type of law practice handles insurance repairs?

Your repair expectations are not unreasonable; sorry to hear that the body shop failed you. I've not experienced a situation like yours, but I'd start by asking my insurance agent for 'next step' options if I was in your position.

Have you even seen the truck yet? Maybe it's perfect?

The Bed. Passenger Side vs Driver Side

The Hood Vents they attempted to glue because they broke the tabs

The color and clear was surprisingly spot on. The texture mimicked the original. The new rear passenger door looked perfect. The bolts and hinges look like they were never touched. That’s why the hood vents were surprising. Like just note it and replace the damn plastic. Easy fix. The issue is the bed. I pushed for an entire new metal panel from Mopar to avoid metal work. Looks like they used sealer to affix the top. They spot welded the front (yes I used a mirror lol) and the tailgate in the same oem spot. The bolts around the tailgate were aligned in their original spots. So what’s with the glue? Wouldn’t you scrub the bed liner off, spot weld it and reapply liner under the rail? I’m not a body guy. All I know is what to look for from an OEM.

If not happy with the repair, your best option is trade-in for new. And, I’m serious. To production shops, your truck is just another vehicle…nothing special.

This is why body shop selection is critical! How do you do that?

I go to the shop. Talk with the service advisor. Ask to meet the painter. Let them know you are a fanatic & see how they respond. I’ve had the best luck using shops that are preferred and/or recommended by local Corvette clubs. Those guys are picky SOBs. Ha!

When my brand new Corvette Z06 was run into by a deer, I went to the shop where all the San Antonio Spurs brought their Lambos, Mercedes, Porsches & McLarens. It was a complete & total sham. They charged top dollar & pretended their work was far superior to any shop in town. “Look, we are trusted with million dollar vehicles. We have to know what we are doing!”

The sanding area & paint areas had no barriers between them. There was a tech grinding away with a polisher on a brand new black Mercedes S600 AMG. I could see the swirls marks being created from 30’ away. But, I got what he was doing. Fooling a novice car owner with “shine”.

They did have a cool cappuccino bar! But, they did not get my business.

Funny thing you mention is this shop WAS recommended by both the Corvette and Miata club guys. Like OCD, everything must be OEM type guys.

Trade In? As in accept a massive $$ hit on dealer trade for a 2026?

Used RHO prices are peaking…it’s tax refund season!

But, with a Carfax hit due to body repair, you might be sucking some wind.

Many enthusiasts are getting past the non-V8 aspect & embracing the RHO value proposition. Crappy exhaust sound is no longer a deal breaker.

Basically I must decide to either A) live with cosmetic repair or B) trade in a perfect mechanical/electrical RHO.

I once traded a nearly perfect Corvette because I put a 1” long, deep scratch in the paint just behind the driver’s door.

Every time I got in the car, I saw it. Plus, I did it.

That Vette had to go!

This is simple enough for anyone to resolve next time you take your truck in for any kind of service just put it in valet mode! Problem solved

I forgot they even had that option. Never used it, so can’t say how it worked.

Update: My ‘25 RHO did NOT have valet mode. I think it’s just for the new TRX, but could be wrong.
