Ceramic Coating Service

Just had mine done over the weekend at a shop in Northern VA. $800 for the following:
  • Hand Wash
  • Dry
  • Rims, Wheels wells, and tires deep cleaned
  • Plastic Trim Conditioning
  • Iron and Clay decontamination
  • Two Step Paint Correction and Paint Enhancement
  • Removes 70%-90% of Swirls and Clearcoat Scratches
  • 9 year ceramic coating (With Proper Maintenance)
Extra $400 which included wheels, all glass, and interior.

Most shops around here push PPF crazy hard, this shop was easy to work with and didn’t try to upsell to a $10k PPF package.

Interested to see how the “9 year” coating holds up as I’m definitely a disbeliever but can’t complain with how good it looks day one!

For anyone in the DMV area, highly recommend Dylan at Deluxe Paint Protection.

Did anyone have the dealer not prep the exterior of your truck when it was deliver to help prevent them from creating swirl marks and need for additional paint correction when taking it for ceramic coat services.

yes - this is a good practice to always do.

I definitely learned my lesson the hard way and will never allow the dealer to touch my paint or wash my truck ever again. I've hand washed all my vehicles for most of my life and should have been aware just how little others care for your vehicle. I got lax and paid the price.

Anyone in the south Florida area recommend a place for ceramic coating?

Old post but wish I saw this before I took delivery of mine yesterday. Swirl marks all over my new black RHO. Unbelievable.

A reputable detail shop can help fix a lot of it.

Can literally happen with 1 dealership drive thru wash! If you were already planning on getting a good detail and coat it shouldn't matter, they will do a polish either way.

Yeah, they were not supposed to put it through the brush wash but it looks they did.

I was undecided on a ceramic coating but now that I already have to have the swirls polished out I’m leaning towards having it done. This is an old thread, are there any new current day fan favorite ceramic coatings?

I could probably even benefit from PPF as I have a cabin that requires traveling on narrow gravel mountain roads and it’ll be almost impossible not to have some brush ups on the wide body, but man that’s pretty steep $.

Just my opinion but I would put the installer reputation over the product itself.

I ended up PPF'ing about 3/4 of my truck. It's been a year and I'm very happy with it. I had ceramic coating on the rest of the truck and the PPF areas as well.

That seems to be a good strategy that might work well for me. Mind me asking what a decent price would be to do that on these trucks?

i got a quote from my detailer here in northern va. Xpel Stealth full truck with ceramic top coat $7995 for entire truck and he is going to give me a discount for being a repeat customer. they are top notch and do amazing work. they did the paint protection and coating on my 2019 Raptor. and did the Xpel tint on my RHO.

Many thanks. One question.

If I understand correctly PPF has much more resistance to swirling and scratches than ceramic coatings. The swirling on the black on these trucks with all the metallic flake looks absolutely terrible. One dealer wash before I even got it home and it already looks bad.

So the PPF should serve me well to prevent swirling and to protect the truck on the narrow mountain roads I drive where I’ll have an occasional minor swipe from branches and the occasional thrown stone. I am leaning toward adding ceramic over the PPF but since ceramic will be more prone to show swirls and scratches doesn’t that defeat the primary purpose of the PPF? Ceramic is not self healing, PPF is.

Thoughts?

you shouldn't see any swirling with PPF atleast none of the higher end ones as they are self healing so with the hot sun or a little heat exposure the scuffs etc. will be gone.
the top coat just helps with water behavior and keeping cleaning the truck a little easier since its a slicker product.
