First time Truck owner - RHO or Raptor?

I am also a first-time truck owner, and went RHO (obviously) and have racked up 2,900 miles so far. When my wife doesn't mind taking a road trip in either the RHO or the X7, that's when you know its a very comfortable truck to drive in and gives up very little in luxury.

I've test driven EcoBoost Raptors and prefer the RHO experience - less turbo lag, more power, higher quality interior, looks more aggressive.

Yes, I have a few electronic gremlins but they do not impact functionality or mechanical reliability. I frequently get a "Uconnect Box" error, but now that I'm connected to my wi-fi I don't get it as often. Apparently, Stellantis bought a bad batch of batteries that impacted early RHOs and other vehicles (my buddy had this problem with an RHO he bought in December 2024), but that issue seems to have worked its way through the system. I took delivery of mine in mid-April, and every time I press the start button it fires up and is ready to go.

For reliability - based on the comments all over this forum it's a tossup either way. No brand is bulletproof. The new generation Toyota Tundra turbo V6 engines were having main bearing issues, the Ford EcoBoost V6 is known for cam phaser problems, and more recently Chevy's 6.2L V8s are prone to fail because of crankshaft/connecting rod issues. Performance sport trucks aren't Toyota Corollas, but then again Corollas ain't what they used to be. That said, RAM is offering a 10-year, 100K mile warranty on 2026 models for the original owner. Sucks if your truck is in the shop for a while, but at least you're not going to get financially drained.

Since the RHO is a new offering from RAM, depreciation is a concern. That is why I leased for three years to put the depreciation risk on the bank.

Hope this is useful to your decision, and good luck to you no matter your choice.

You know , I don’t think depreciation will be an issue. I think once the TRX comes back, it’ll be seen like the Fords.

As much as we tow our boat, I would not want to hear that exhaust for an hour plus time , especially after a day on the lake and all you want is some peace n quiet.

Our Laramie had the hemi but the stock exhaust so it was pretty quiet towing the boat. I know the TRX is not. :)

And replying to my own post 😂🤣😂 (it’s like having a tshirt with my name on it , I KID @Mikey Swift 😂)

We have 2 cars that are plenty loud if we need the sensation which, I’ll admit is awesome, but also tiresome too on long drives :)
