I don't want air bags -- how about Timbren?

I'm not 100% against it, I was looking for a simpler solution -- I know I wouldn't go all in with an onboard compressor, etc. -- so the user friendliness of the system install and use is what I was after. It's certainly not the end of the world to use a portable compressor to make adjustments if that's what ultimately needs to happen.

If you go that route check the travel length of that air bag. Our trucks have 14 inches in the rear travel. Hate to see you getting in a situation where you tear apart your $700 airbags. Timber Grove and air lifter 5000 both make one design specifically for our trucks. The 5000 is about the same cost as the one you listed and works with our trucks.

I will try not to repeat some of the other advice/observations above. I have Timber Grove Gen2s, and these are great for towing. No onboard compressor, I agree that's overkill, when any decent portable will do the job. I can't compare to Airlift 5000 since I haven't tried them, but I like that TG is separate from the base plate, so any articulation is not hindered nor is it stretching the airbag. Makes towing a breeze with no squat. Good luck whatever you decide.

That's good info, but in all honesty I don't believe your set up has anywhere near the tongue weight of a toy hauler or boat, all the weight is far back over the double axle --- which is sweet!

I tow two different boats a few times a month. A bass boat and a ski boat. Both caused some significant rear suspension sag. I ordered the Timber Grove Gen2 air bag kit from Nick @797Performance. https://797performance.com/products...x-rho-gen2-rear-asam-air-spring-kit-sq7785000

This kit is STOUT! Very well designed. I purchased it before the new style Airlift kit with the cup style lower bag mounts came out . Had I waited, I may have gone that route, but I have NO regrets about going with the Timber Grove kit. I use a portable Milwaukee air compressor for adjustments. 2 PSI seems to be perfect for unloaded daily driving. I only have to increase to 7ps to maintain level when towing the bass boat, and 12 psi towing the ski boat. My truck has the Eibach 2.7/1.5 pro kit installed, and there were no issues using this kit with the lift springs.

I spoke with Steve @ Timber Grove about that question. He said with the new Gen2 kits, you only loose about a half inch of travel overall, and basically no loss of articulation. The bags share a common air line so if one side flexes, the air can move from one side to the other. The bags are also removable with basic hand tools in about 30 minutes for more aggressive off-roading. The first pic is with the truck on a lift with the suspension at full droop with 2psi. No issues, The next pics are of the bags at rest with the truck unloaded at level ride height and 2psi. The last pic is the location I installed the schrader valve. That little cover is where the jack tool goes in to lower the spare.

I've got the Timber Ridge 2's also and love them ! They let the suspension work as intended AND you can haul a huge load without any squat !! I DO have the compressor with wi-fy and THAT is really a great system !!!

Agree the on board wifi is a sweet set up for sure but I couldn't justify it personally. The Airlift system does have a similar design to allow the suspension / axle to 'disconnect' from the bag.

No. I thought about it, but figured it was easy enough to use my portable compressor. No wrong answer on this one.

Finally completed the install -- after the box was sitting in my garage over a month waiting on my schedule and weather to cooperate! These photos were right before I made a final adjustment to the passenger side cradle and set air to 15psi. The install --- well, it would've been easier if I didn't have to pull the passenger side exhaust off -- there was just no way to get the kit installed while the pipe was bolted up....notice the heat shield they provide, there's also heat shield provided for the air line. Other than that, it was pretty straight forward. My low profile floor jacks were able to get the truck plenty high enough to bolt it all up. I'm ready to tow!
