Jumped ship…

In my search for an RHO replacement, I drove the latest off-road version of that vehicle by Hyundai (Pallisade XRT-Pro?).

The Koreans have made huge leaps in just about every area of car building since entering the US in the 80s. Remember the Excel? Ha! At least that was my impression based on reviews, word of mouth & advertising…I hadn’t driven one in many years.

In a word, the Pallisade SUCKED! It wasn’t offensive, but did absolutely nothing exemplary. The folks who buy these are obviously sold on features for the money & long warranty.

I’m going to give Hyundai/Kia another 20+ years before I test drive one again. Though, I do believe their N-cars are likely more special.
I'd have to disagree on the palisade. I bought my ex wife one and it's a pretty damn good car but apples and oranges to an RHO. I'd never even think to look at a palisade to replace an RHO.

Hyundai's and Kia's do have a great value proposition, but their engines still suck...I'm AMAZED at how many Tellurides and Palisades already blowing blue smoke leaving stop signs/lights....they havent been out that long to see that many sucking oil.

I worked for about 15 years with a lot of auto dealers. Software for the service departments. I can confirm the Hyundais saw a LOT of head replacements and new engines. But that era was 2015-2020 and more common in the turbo 4's. Can't recall many 6 cylinder issues but then again they sold maybe 5% with a v6.

Anyone have experience with the Infinity QX80 Autograph?

Two of my employees had Hyundais. One is on its second engine, the other one got a third engine before she finally sold it. Maybe they have come a long way since the 80's, but to me they'll always seem like low budget cars or cars for college kids. I think of them similar to how I thought of Yugos back in the day. I just can't bring myself to consider one.

Hyundais and KIAs have come a long way in the past 10 years. But their fit, finish, and overall quality still isn't equal to their slightly more expensive Japanese counterparts.

I had to rent a few different vehicles recently, and the two KIAs felt cheap compared to a Mazda I ended up with for another rental

Pallisade replacing RHO…well, I didn’t want to overlook a possible winner. It is a new design this year & has an “off-road” oriented trim. My RHO was a miserable POS for its 1st 5K miles of glitchy electronics & malfunctioning safety systems. I was getting despirate!

Don’t feel bad about my review…I think they are great for 90+% of the public. In my experience, “the public” doesnt know the difference between a transverse or longitudinal mounted engine. And, they don’t care to know. In my experience, those folks buy Hyundais, Kia & other assorted non-enthusiast transportation.

beautiful car, nice interior...I almost went that path. I think its the best looking full size out right now. dealers non existent by us and I like the interior lay out a little more on some other full sizes. Interior space good, but not best. By far the best infiniti I have been in so far.

To be clear, I haven’t driven the latest. I’ve read from reputable sources that the ride is a bit too stiff for its mission. Otherwise, I think it’s a winner, if a bit pricy.
