Limp Mode Again

i was on the highway when the zr2 went into limp, stopped using it after. I have the JB4 on the RHO and its been good

The dealer stated that my truck needs no less than three software updates to be current so maybe that has something to do with it. I doubt it but we will see you in a couple weeks.. I loved both the JB4 in the Pedal Commander, but with all the electronics on these trucks, I think the two aftermarket accessories just may be too much. I will most likely be going with the Diablo 6 after the dealer visit just to keep things simpler

I've been throught this much earlier in my ownership experiencde -- it was the throttle position sensor (on the throttle pedal) -- a quick fix (even when driving) is to let off the gas and lift the pedal up (the part closest to you) with your foot -- hold for 2 seconds, it should reset and all is well. I had my position sensor replaced under warranty -- it was a known issue. Problem solved. Hopefully your issue may be just as simple.

I will definitely try this . Never has happened when driving , just at start up . Did it look something like this when it happened?

I don't recall what bells and whistles were active -- but it displayed two characteristics, one was very reduced power, still able to maintain speed limit, but press the gas and get nothing more. The second was absolutey no power, but the truck ran and idled ok -- couldn't even do 5 mph. The issue was resolvable two ways -- shut truck down and wait 15 min for all the electronics to go to sleep then restart -- or in my case, lift up on the throttle pedal to reset the potentiometer (if you have the same issue it should work the same).

Yeah, mine will not go over 5mph when it happens even with it to the floor. I just disconnect the negative terminal on the batteries and it clears but with a CEL until that clears on its own. Then it’ll happen a day or 2 later.

That sounds similar -- try the peddle "reset" method I described above -- also no need to disconnect the battery, the modules go to sleep within 15 min, just easier to wait if need be.

So I get in my truck last week , start it, and every warning light comes on CEL, something about throttle control, parking brake, etc and it’s in limp mode, will barely rev up. Disconnect batteries , wait, restart and everything clears and the truck seems fine for 2 days. Leave for 4 days for work , come home tonight , start it up and the same thing happens again. This happened late last year and the dealer tells me it’s because of how I routed the wire to my Peddle Commander. Rerouted the wire and have not had any issues until now. Has anyone experienced this before and is there a fix? I wonder if it’s the batteries but once I disconnect and reconnect them it seems fine. Only thing that changed since last year is I added the JB4 a few weeks ago. Hope that’s not it as I’m really enjoying it. Going in for the trailer module recall in 2 weeks so I guess I’ll have them investigate this as well

I just had this happen a couple weeks ago. I took the pedal commander off when I unplugged the batteries. These trucks do not like any fuckery with the electronics.

Definitely seems finicky when messed with , absolutely. But……. When this gets figured out, and the added piggyback tuner / throttle controller is ruled out, I’ll be going right back to the fuckery ……. Too much fun

2. under options, make sure you select option 6... that's for the RHO motor from now on
3. and for fuel bias, set it to 80 for every RPM... the RHO, especially the 2026, seems to like more fuel

Oh, and I am using the Roar Pedal instead of the Peddle Commander. I have been error-free for about 4 weeks now.

1. update your firmware to JB4_P205_HURRICANE_14.HEX... it's currently in BETA
2. under options, make sure you select option 6... that's for the RHO motor from now on
3. and for fuel bias, set it to 80 for every RPM... the RHO, especially the 2026, seems to like more fuel

Similar...beta testing around 1k miles and now at 10k. Zero issues except the batteries but that was not the DS fault.

Wow I was just looking back at my emails with one of the engineers at Holley and we got our DS in February of 2025.....time flies!! Maybe it was less than 1k miles

Just an update on this if anyone is paying attention. After uninstalling the JB4 and just running the Peddle Commander, no issues since the last time I posted about it. I dropped mine off at the dealership last night for the trailer module recall/software updates, and these limp mode issues, and when I arrived I decided to remove the pedal commander before I handed them the keys. Restart the truck and it immediately went into limp mode again, same warnings lights/cel. Cleared everything except the CEL and left it with them. Definitely seems like something with the throttle. We shall see I guess.

I have a pedal commander from my 2019 Laramie that I refuse to use in my RHO because it put my truck into limp mode multiple times. It’s pretty damn scary when doing 80mph on the interstate and your peddle goes dead. I bought the banks after that and never had a problem. I’m hesitant to try the banks on the RHO with the battery drain people are reporting though.

I'd sell the pedal commander and get the pedal monster. There's alot of people who have problems with those pedal commanders.

FWIW, never had a problem with Pedal Commander. Moved to CAT6 a few months ago, which replaced the Pedal Commander, and love it.

Removed the CAT6 yesterday for a routine service appointment today (to avoid potential warranty claim denial down the road), took about 20 minutes all in.

After reconnecting the batteries, threw a CEL, so disconnected batteries and let it sit for 20 minutes. Reconnected and no problem…except one. Now it drives stock and feels slow!
