MX4, disappointed

Looking at yours, it almost seems like it's too far forward. Virtually no overlap on the tailgate and the outter weatherstripping at the bulkhead goes almost all the way to the front edge of the bed.
Yeah, thinking the same, but the bed never gets wet washing or driving through downpours. 🤷‍♂️

I've had no problems with my MX4 so far. I bought it locally and the installation was included. It has the bakflip logo if it makes any difference. The alighnment seems right and all the latches work. I also have an old backflip G2 installed on my dually since around 2013. A couple of years ago the rail holding the latches fell of and it was a pain trying to source the type of rivets the factory used to secure it to the cover from underneath. I manage to repair it using similar type of rivets and it still working fine. The new MX4 does seem more plasticky compared to the old one. I remember getting the old bakflip aligned was quite simple last time I took it off but I don't know about the MX4.

Quality control has gone to hell since realtruck owns just about every bed cover out there now. I run a truck accessory business and deal with real truck on a daily basis and it is a joke to say the least. I have always done undercover armor flex folding cover since they dont have to lean against the cab in the vertical position. I have a retraxpro xr on my rho.

Lomax tri-fold is made in USA and has served me well on my Raptors. Works like a charm on my RHO, too.

Wish I would have gone lomax. Last truck, was between these two. Went MX4 and was happy for many years. Shame on me for not researching more.

Realtruck has been acquiring alot of brands lately, yes. Slowly they will all say Realtruck rather then the independent brands. The are aware of the QC issues they've been facing as well...which is nice for them to admit.

For the money, I really like the Rough Country version of this cover, for almost half the price it does the job great. MX4 is still a very popular cover for us but everyone likes to save a few bucks so that RC cover gives it a run for the money. Grant it it does come up a little high when flipped up, but we aren't running into that daily.

Really putting this down for future people coming across this.

I've used Truxedo Low Pros on mt last 4 trucks and they have performed flawlessly and fit perfectly every time !

Installed two accessories today. RB20 slim steps and MX4 bed cover.

Side steps look decent. Went with powder coat to help match the two tone. Instructions are lacking but after two attempts, figured it out. Steps seam sturdy enough. Don’t say Go Rhino anymore on the logo. Ok, whatever. Guess Realtruck owns everything now.

The Bak MX4 installation was disappointing. I’m comparing this to my last MX4 purchased 6 years ago on a ram 2500. Everything bolted similar. The bulkhead foam gasket was not in the best shape. Sealed as it should so moved on. Side plastic guides seamed fine and bolted on.

Had a problem with the latches making contact to the rail. Pushed, pulled, did not want to latch. Back edge of the cover does not overhang the tailgate. Fit and finish is behind the 6 year old unit. Gaps looked bad as well. Of course, logo says Realtruck instead of Bakflip.

Sorry lot of words. Anyone else disappointed in paying $1,200 for the MX4 lately? May give it a week to settle before returning.
Real Truck bought BakFlip. Quality dropped dramatically. I have a Line-X tonneau cover. Love it.

I went with the Undercover ArmorFlex. It's much like the BakFlip mechanically, but its bedliner-style coating is what attracted my attention. I'd replaced five BakFlips due to coating oxidation on my last truck; it was a yearly hassle but they were good on their warranty. The ArmorFlex also has a ball-and-socket latch that lets it stand open without leaning on the cab. I'm hoping this one lasts. Similar to some of the other post the seal hangs over the front of the cab about half an inch. The seal on the tailgate is perfect with no interference with the automatic closure of the tailgate.
