I've spent a couple more weeks with the PSP downpipes and stock exhaust. I can say I really like how much faster the power builds compared with stock. With the setup I have (maybe also a CAT6), I can tell the power starts closer to 2800 RPMS versus lower 4s. Matches what was advertised. Though I would like a deeper richer sound, which is next on the agenda when it cools down.

I always tell people downpipes will make your vehicle feel better across the entire board. The entire powerband is improved, turbos spool quicker, flows better etc. . It's like if your vehicle just magically had a bit more power from the factory. It's just a general improvement

This is exactly why I built them... Felt sluggish and laggy down low. Come around a corner at 2500rpm and give it throttle and flat, unresponsive. Roll into it on the freeway at 2k and same thing.

3 more psi at 2k-2.5k is a huge improvement from stock then it starts to build fast.. 5 more psi at 3k-ish compared to a cat6 alone. It transforms the truck and makes it much more responsive and pull like a monster.

I'm glad you are enjoying the benefits and happy with the results, maybe sans the sound....

When I put a high flow downpipe on my M340, noticeable doesn't even describe the change. That was one of the biggest improvements I've ever felt in that car or most cars for a single part swap. Most of my cars are straight piped now! Except the 1M, can't touch that one! haha.

You’re on a similar path as I am. I have an MRT Trail Rated which I love as it almost completely eliminates the canned wet fart gear shifts but I just need a bit more, it’s too high pitched. Based on what I’ve heard downpipes are out, they’re way too difficult to tame for me.

So I’m thinking of keeping the Trail Rated and adding resonators, two just behind the cats (to smooth out some rasp and minimize cab drone) and two downstream of the mufflers (to hopefully deepen the tone).

I was thinking of going with Vibrant but most seem to think the cheap Amazon ones do almost as well?

I’m looking at the bottle resonators from LCGP. Just need to figure what I can fit in those locations.

Figure that might give me what I’m looking for (smoother deeper tone) without having to add additional h-pipes or x-pipes which would make the install more difficult.

If it’s too quiet (which it might be) I could always swap out the mufflers that come with the Trail Rated without having to rip anything else out.

I’m far from an expert on exhausts but that’s my current thinking.

So I've been doing more research. I have the MRT trail rated on now. Im going to replace just the muffler section with 2 Borla Pro Xs mufflers. Im going to have the shop clamp them on so I can put the MRT mufflers back on if need be. Im hoping to get a little deeper tone, more volume at wot and similar highway drone as the MRTs. Ill keep you posted. Not installing for a couple of weeks.

MRT is on the same track. They’re working on an Elite version that will replace the current mufflers in the Trail Rated with upgraded versions.

I’m convinced this exhaust will never be completely optimized until the OEM mesh resonators are replaced with true resonators. They do help with cabin drone but it’s a cheap fix with a big trade off that contributes to the high pitched raspy angry weed whacker tone that sounds like it has an exhaust leak.

They may not cause much of an issue on big displacement V8’s but to my ear they definitely cause issues on this twin turbo I6.
