Ya i couldnt agree more. Low rpms and idle sounds like a leak also with my muffler and valvle delete. Im gonna do a different settup soon and block them again. How you liking the dual vibrant resonator settup? And did you end up blocking or welding mesh?

I like the dual Vibrants. Deeper and louder. Sounds decent, less bad sounding anyway. lol

I cut the two rear most mesh "resonators" out and replaced with a small section of pipe. The ones further up in the bend/over axle area are harder to get to in order to cut and weld etc so cost would be notably more.

Definite change of sound. Cleaner, less muddy/exhaust leak sounding on start up and idle. The ones further up are less obvious sounding, but on throttle those now cause a little more in cab sound. Not significant, but I may wrap them with header wrap and see if it's worth the effort to get those out also. Or just leave the wrap for a couple years lol.

I just put band clamps on the mesh resonators. Not a huge difference but it is discernible. Slightly less raspy and less airy, ever so slightly smoother.

I have the MRT Trail Rated and the valves were previously deleted so the OEM mesh resonators in my opinion are not worth anything with a modified exhaust, perhaps not worth anything with the standard exhaust.

You have to play them at similar points rpm wise back to back to hear the difference.

Just an update for anyone thinking about doing this. There is a definite improvement in the tone of the exhaust but there is also a definite increase in cab drone. It’s not terrible but it’s there when accelerating between 2K and 2.5K rpms. Little to no difference when cruising on the highway.

So I’m contemplating removing them or adding real resonators because these mesh things just sound like an exhaust leak and they ruin the tone.

It’s just a rabbit hole with diminishing returns…

Any chance you can post some pics of the dual Vibrant install?

Did you replace the muffler(s) with the dual Vibrants or add them to the tail section before the tips?

Awesome find! I had seen that video and forgot about that discussion.

So, the frequencies that don’t sound good to Ram that they’re trying to tune out with these mesh patches are perhaps tuning out some of the frequencies that some of us prefer.

I'd be curious to see if there is new drone with this approach. As I was under the impression this is one of the things they engineered to remove drone.

Thanks! @rpr that makes sense. And that's around the same place the AFE had drone as well. Seems like their trouble spot with STOCK DPs.

I’m contemplating leaving the forward ones clamped or having them welded shut and cutting the rear ones out and installing bottle resonators but parts and labor at ~$500+ is steep for unpredictable results.
