Software version 68733601AA - 98 MPH speed limiter

No fix yet, that I’m aware of. Whats wild is I talk with my case manager weekly and ask how new trucks are still being produced with the correct software and top speed, but somehow can’t program my truck and they never get me an answer.

My compensation offer
Just keeps growing at this point.
Oh, and I’ve been dealing with the 98 mph limiter since 3/8….

Be careful getting PCM software updates done on your truck. This version (68733601AA) will set your top speed limiter at 98mph.
@IdealRace Do you know if they are applying this software to misfire trucks or ALL trucks? Is there a way to check software version with a OBD2 reader?

My very limited understanding is this is a PCM software update that would only be applied if you were having some sort of issue. Or if the dealer was unknowingly just updated long everything to its latest version.

As long as you don’t have issues, or tell the dealer to not update anything, you should be fine.

Apparently the 98mph limitation was a mistake. It was made for vehicles being shipped out of the US. However, the horsepower did remain the same. It shows 400hp on the infotainment center but 540hp on the driver's cluster.

This is my opinion, and I do not speak for RAM or Stellantis

See the PDF of the "International/Global Recall". I wonder if the speed limit issue may be from dealers that performed this GLOBAL recall in error. The recall states it was released for a very small number of trucks for export. US market vehicles should have been excluded

Try telling that to @itsmekylep. Unless he is outside the US, the RAM rep told him it’s the new norm.

So many people putting different wheels and tires on their RHO don't realize that the OE Goodyear Territory tires are T speed rated for 118mph. Many AT tires are only Q rated for 99 mph. Discount Tire is usually pretty cognizant about installing tires with less load capacity, but apparently they don't look at the speed rating of the tire very often. Still, there is zero scenario where I would be over 99 mph for anything more than a brief quarter mile pass on a closed circuit, so a Q rated tire would probably be acceptable risk as long as the owner/driver was aware.

I guess except for me. I hit 474 hp on driver cluster this morning. 70 degrees outside

I’m in Arizona. I appreciate the folks that work at dealers trying to get answers for us though. Lots of unanswered questions and open ended information that doesn’t make sense from Ram.
