The dealer and my tuner (CAT6)

Because they aren’t liable for when it goes pop. But let’s be honest, that D100 and viper that had hurricane swaps were pushing like 1,000 Hp. They only hit the drag strip, but I’m guessing 700Hp is probably fine. But I don’t know shit about fuck. I’m just some asshole on the internet. Don’t listen to me. Haha.

I think if anything, the transmission (not the engine) would be the long-term issue/weak point. Map 2 on a Cat6 puts you at like 95% of the max torque rating. I wish they'd have just used the TRX transmission in our RHO's. I don't know shit about fuck either, though.

I didn’t realize they were different. I thought these 8 speeds were good upwards of 800 ish.

Yup, the TRX has the 8HP95 (700 lb-ft) , while the RHO has the 8HP75 (550 lb-ft).

How long they'll last running at 100% or more of that torque rating? I don't know.

Can beef up both of them in the aftermarket, but I think that's probably a step further than a lot of people simply running a tuner want to go.

700 per dude from Sema. I know, I don't remember, but there were folks saying that was what the engineer at the ram booth had said.

Jokes aside, that guy did bring some light to my 98 mph issue and Ram only reached out to me because the traction it was getting on YouTube. So kudos to him for sure.
Glad he was able to mumble a good word in for ya.

The I6 is a longer block, so the TRX trans wouldn't fit.

They claim 521 lb-ft of TQ stock and have a transmission only rated to 550? That doesn’t seem right or is some horrible design and engineering on their part. If it was 650 lb-ft I would understand.

Ya. There has to be some margin for error
Built in there.

I know the 8hp75/76 transmissions pretty well and trust me you can push 700ish for quite some time and be perfectly fine. 800 is where you start running into issues. I have a fully built 8hp76 on my X3M that’s good for 1500+ and ran it in the 700s when it was stock for a long time with no issues and clutches weren’t bad when they opened it up to build it.

My logic, and maybe I'm wrong, but if the RHO is so safe til 700hp then why didn't they give it 640hp instead of 540hp from the factory? It's because they don't think it's safe. They think the failure rate would be too high, and cost them warranty money. It's really that simple. If an $800 box gives you +100hp, Ram could have done that from the factory for literally $0 their cost. They know how to tune their own engines, it's not some top secret thing that only the guys at jb4 and Holley know how to do.

The engineers who designed the engine know more about its limits than we currently do, and they settled on 540hp being the safe number. Period. This is a fact, not an opinion.

Regardless, now that dementia man and his team is out of office, and that 🌈 frenchie CEO is gone, Ram finally gave people back a factory option that we know is safe to 800hp for those who want it. So I'll give them credit for that.

I think it's probably a two part decision.
One being gas mileage, the numbers are already abysmal compared to the SO engine.
They grenaded the Hemi under the guise of fuel savings, and here this engine comes in HO trim and the numbers are shit. Imagine if they took it another 100hp...only 2-3mpg off TRX instead of 4-5mpg.
Two would be cannibalizing potential TRX sales if it ever returned...at 640hp with how the Hurricane delivers the power, it creeps into OG TRX performance numbers. Definitely can't have that.

💯%
They always want to leave something on the table so they can bump up in a couple years so that the wrinkled customers trade in for the new high score hp #. To be honest I was very surprised they didn’t release the HO @ 490 or 495 just enough to beat the 392 but still leave plenty on the table.

This is an opinion as soon as they release your mopar backed tuner. Period. Fact. 😂

Ram / Stellantis has a file on every vehicle they make. Things like warranty repair work maintenance done. Recalls needed and done. And this trucks vin file now’s says aftermarket tuner installed.
Doubtful and could care less.
