Uconnect Carplay Interruptions

Mine does that on long road trips. Acts like a skipping CD. Super annoying.

Drives me nuts! Even when connected with a USB it drops, not as frequently but it still drops.
Equally as annoying is when CarPlay doesn't connect at all.

As a mix engineer my truck is my second office. When listening intently to a mix in the truck and it drops I lose my mind.

Question: How do we know when an OTA software update is available?
Do they send a notification through the UConnect system or some other way?

I felt this! Not exactly a mix engineer but I do some production and it makes me wanna punch things when I'm trying to listen back to a track and it cuts out like that. I literally start the track over every time it happens. If I'm just causally listening to music and it does it, that's one thing. Annoying af but I don't get bent out of shape. I wholly agree. When casually listening and it happens it does draw a reaction from me, but not nearly as venomous as when I am listening to something with scrutiny.
I don't start the track over every time, but I do get it.

I haven't had it lock up the whole screen yet. Fingers crossed it doesn't.

not sure if you have 12 or 14 but does the same on my 12 inch unit. I bet it's some software issue that will hopefully be fixed in future.

Also is your player delayed? I mean if you skip a song, it takes like a second after you press the button. Also if you play a video on phone with audio in the truck, do you see a second delay between the video and audio? I bet the units are just slow to process anything lol

I HATE this right here...I have the smaller screen. Did it a few times early on, but now it is constant, and I have no clue how to fix it

I just think the unit doesn't have enough processing power to do that.. like when I switch from map to temperature control it takes a while lol.. feels laggy like grey import chinese tablet with unsupported android OS we used to get decade ago lol

My S23 ultra skips during songs sometimes, makes my phone run slow as shit on the phone itself when connected to AA and wont connect to android auto sometimes. Last night i almost threw my phone out the window and bought an iphone because it wouldnt connect to android auto no matter what i did. lol. Good thing i held back my anger as this happens on both iphone and android from what im reading and i cant stand iphones personally.

The problem always lies with RAM. Spend insane money on a truck then your $1500 phone has connection issues. Love it. Wired or wireless, no difference.

ALSO WHY IS CARPLAY FULL SCREEN AND NOT ANDROID AUTO?! i know this horse has been beat but holy cow, the 12" screens have been out over 5 years and still nothing?! Id love to be able to open GAIA GPS or ONX in full screen.

Yeah, if you want to go from one to the other you pretty much got to delete both from each other and start fresh with the connection you want. My issue with wireless is it makes it a freakin nightmare trying to hit wifi with my phone. If I try connecting to my starlink mini or my dash cam, it keeps autoswitching back to carplay on its own. Going wired solved that.

As for the audio drops, I've not noticed that myself, but I've had carplay refuse to connect a few times. Solution I found was to just reboot Uconnect. hold power and enter (center of two knobs) at the same time for like 20 seconds until the screen goes black. Once it restarts carplay works fine again. Could try that the next time it drops audio and see if that helps.

Also make sure both are updated to their latest versions. I know everyone is paranoid about updates on these trucks with the whole 98mph ecu flash issue, but the Uconnect update itself should be OK. Also, you could try the beta version of iOS 26 and see if that works better for you.

I had the latest version and nothing. Just switch to Beta 26 and same. Small drops every other minute or so.

I wonder if you guys have some sort of app generating a hidden notification that's communicating itself via AA and resulting in the momentary pause. It would not at all be surprising with how cavalier Android notification settings are allowed by Google and utilized by developers.

Would potentially explain why there are different behaviors when all else is seemingly the same on both ends of the handshake.

I would like a little bit larger but I also like my shortcuts below. We use the wife's Carplay when she's in and honestly, I don't like having to look to the bottom of the screen when Waze notifications pop up.

I would be happy with a 70 / 30 split for AA

Absolutely. I think it would be a no brainer to be able to choose in settings: 1/2 screen , 2/3 screen or full screen! keep everyone happy. Get with it Ram.

Few things I've noticed after many years of using wireless AA. The connection is susceptible to power line interference, I've traced dropouts near where I live to a specific spot on the same road I pass daily, to a crossing of multiple power lines. I can time it to the second. On 3 road trips on the 40 out west, it drops at the exact same spots coming and going multiple days apart. While not ideal, it isn't the phone, truck, or AA. 99% of the time it works as intended, but like a phone call, if the signal is interrupted, it will drop. I'm sure there are a lot more things causing interference as well. We live in a world of techinologia, try to enjoy it.

Im sure I'm not the only one with this issue. But when I use wireless Carplay it momentarily interrupts the playing of the music.

Is there a fix for this or am I just stuck being annoyed when it happens. It happens very frequently.

I think this is an Apple update issue. My RHO does this and so does my wife’s Toyota.

I only have this issue in my RHO. I've noticed it when playing really long audio files using Youtube Music or Apples Music. Strangly, it does not happen while playing a 2 hour podcast. This only happens in My RHO, everything works fine in my BMW and Cadillac using wireless carplay. It might be that the wireless module Toyota's using is from the same vendor as the RAM.

Some people not using Apple reported the same thing. So I have no idea lol
