WARNING: Digital Cluster Software Recall Results in Digital Cluster Replacement?!

I’m not sure on that. My recall showed up in my App, which I never use… I just happened to log into it after reading here there was a software update available. I did get a letter in the mail a couple of weeks later, so there are multiple ways they attempt to contact customers with recall.
Same here but then Friday I got a letter in the mail as well.

Nothing overly dramatic complaining about things that don't work in your brand new $80k vehicle. It's borderline ridiculous. You shouldn't have to deal with all this. Eventually, we have to stop giving Ram the benefit of the doubt. They cheaped out/cut corners on basically everything while endlessly raising their prices. Screw them.

Can you imagine the money pit these things are going to be once the bumper to bumper warranty expires? I can. Just that replacement cluster and your seat work alone is probably ~$4,000.

I love my truck and also thoroughly enjoy this ownership community, but I'm 100% offloading this thing way before that warranty expires. It's a shame and will end up probably being a pretty big waste of money, especially if resale tanks when and if they release the new TRX at a fair MSRP.

I'm not giving Ram another $4.5k for an extended warranty just to keep this thing semi-operational after 36,000mi.

Just my .02 on the situation at hand.
Kinda thinkin the same thing myself !! Sad because this is the most badass truck I've ever owned ! ( except for all the bullshit :ROFLMAO: )

Sadly, I’m right there with you.

I never had an electrical issue with my 2020 Ram and sadly didn’t learn of the new electrical architecture on the 2025s until after I placed my order. I’ve had a lot of little gremlins since I got the truck, but none debilitating. You kind of learn to just disregard those, but this one is going to be costly.

I really wonder if we’ll see a class action lawsuit against Stellantis at some point, as it certainly feels like this electrical architecture wasn’t ready to go out to customers in its current state. I’m definitely nervous about keeping this truck outside of warranty, as well… but I put on way too many miles a year and had definitely planned to hold the truck until 100k at least. I’m in a predicament, for sure.
Does anybody know what happened in 5 years for these issues to be SO bad when everything was great 5 years ago ?? Can @RamCares maybe explain this to all of us that spent almost $100 grand on one of their vehicles ??????

I had second round of updates today ..Throttle response improved dramatically ...no issues with the cluster.

Hope it stays that way. I was good for a day or two before my first black screen.

Interestingly enough, I’ve only had one blackout now after my second install. I’m really beginning to think the problem might be in the sensor learn procedures after the updates are completed.

Hello, @Attakracer!

See this makes no sense to me. Ram is all over the place with these updates. Which update is supposed to fix throttle response? I didn't even know there was something for that.

I think there’s a pretty extensive sensor learn procedure after the software install. That said, it’s not at all transparent what all is being updated during this process.

So here is a bit of an update for me:

1st software update - I had 3 cluster blackouts and 1 CEL within 3 days of the updates. Throttle response was much more sensitive. My cluster auto brightness issues or warning illumination warnings haven’t been present since, and my ambient temp is much more accurate.

Brought the truck in due to cluster blackout and CEL. I asked if the software could be reverted, and was told it couldn’t, so they’d attempt to reload the software update and perform learn process again.

2nd software update - I’ve had the truck for a week since and have put on about 2k miles due to a roadtrip. I’ve had one cluster blackout, but no other issues since. Throttle sensitivity feels back to its original state. Ambient brightness and temp are all good.

My cluster blackouts have all occurred on startup. Display goes black for 10-20 seconds and then I hear an audible beep, and then it restarts itself. In each event, my lane assist function disables itself. In one of the 4 events, I had a CEL, which resolved itself after a couple of restarts.

Not confidence inspiring at all…

I 100% agree. Ram is my favorite vehicle brand- I've owned 3. That being said, they've gotten noticeably worse as of late. The trucks themselves are fins but they need to get on top of these software issues. The trucks have been out for 1.5 years, I don't think that's even a remotely unreasonable request.

It's not like we were expecting everything to be perfect only 2 months after release.

This is exactly what they extended the powertrain warranty but didn't touch the bumper to bumper. I'd wager 90% of their warranty claims have been electronic related.

I’m definitely not getting the software update done and risk having issues after lol. I’ll be sure to remind them not to install it next oil change.
Has anyone besides the OP had any problems??

Im at the dealer today with my 25 going to be here a few hours with all the updates. I have 6k miles, and no problems so far. Hopefully updates dont create any

My powerfold mirrors glitched out this morning and wouldn't fold/open, so I popped into the dealer figuring I had the recalls and what not as well. They said they had the recall and a pcm update for me and scheduled me at 11am. Went home, folded the mirrors and only the driver side folded. I parked and manually folded the passenger side. Did some other stuff for an hour or so, then went to head back to the dealer. Backed out of the garage and both mirrors are working fine now. 🙄

Anyway, been about an hour and half so far. Apparently it was two updates behind where they needed it to do the recall. Gotta love that OTA bull shit. Lol

So, fingers crossed this actually fixes a bunch of glitches with no adverse side effects. Prior to the updates/ recall I only had the random Warning Illumination unavailable message and a few carplay related quirks through 10K miles on a 26 lvl 1. 🤞

Has anyone had this recall performed and had NO issues? With it being a safety recall, can I still refuse the update? I always understood safety recalls were not negotiable.

So far I feel like I might be one of the only people who have experienced an issue with this recall software.

My 2nd software install has been more stable, but now I’ve had 3 more display blackouts. I fear I’m headed towards a 3mo wait for a new cluster at this point.

I got all the updates done during an oil change last week. A bunch of my settings got reset, but other than that no issues so far.

yes and it fixed my cluster.. if you not having issues I would not let them update

I think it's more of if you having or about to have cluster problems you will even if you got update or not. I already have truck for 13+ months with zero issues and 1000+ miles since updates and still no issues.

Also for people who decline this software update the dealer will send you email you declined service/services and next time you have issues they will tell not covered under warranty. So you will have to get updates done anyway and drive until issues return and take it in for cluster problems anyway. So basically I think you just delaying repairs with this and will have to go to dealer few extra times.

First, it’s a recall, so they HAVE to perform the recall whenever you request it be done, no matter how many times you turned it down before.
Second, on warranty repairs, you can turn down the repair for a warranty issue, and have it repaired some other time, and it will be covered as long as you’re still under warranty.
